Ingredientes

  • 1 1/3 c. all-purpose flour
  • 2/3 c. whole-wheat flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp baking pwdr
  • 1/4 c. vegetable shortening
  • 2/3 c. warm water

Direcciones

  1. In a large bowl, stir flours, salt and baking pwdr.
  2. With a pastry cutter, two forks or possibly by hand, blend in shortening till mix resembles coarse meal.
  3. Add in sufficient warm water to create a stiff dough. Place dough on plastic wrap or possibly wax paper and form into cylinder, approximately 2 1/2 inches thick. Chill at least 1/2 hour. (Dough may be made up to a day in advance.)
  4. Cut dough into 12 pcs. Form each piece into a ball. On a floured surface, roll each ball into flat 8-inch disks.
  5. Cook on a warm, ungreased skillet or possibly in a large saute/fry pan till lightly browned, about 30 seconds. Flip tortilla over and cook 20 seconds.
  6. Makes 12
