Ingredientes

  • 4 c. (1 1/2 lb.) pared or possibly cubed fresh turnips
  • 1 tbsp. sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 4 tbsp. butter
  • 2 tbsp. flour
  • 1/8 teaspoon grnd white pepper
  • 1 1/2 c. lowfat milk
  • 3/4 c. grated sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 c. pkg. dry bread crumbs

Direcciones

  1. In medium saucepan bring 4 inches of water to boiling. Add in turnips, sugar and 1/2 tsp. of salt. Cover. Cook 12 min or possibly till tender; drain. Remove. Set aside. In same saucepan heat 2 Tbsp. butter; blend in flour, remaining 1 tsp. salt and pepper. Cook 1 minute. Remove pan from heat. Gradually stir in lowfat milk. Return to heat and cook stirring constantly or possibly till thickens. Add in cheese. Put in baking dish over turnips. Put bread crumbs on top. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 min or possibly till brown. Yields 6 servings.
