Turtle Tarte
Yikers! That’s not a very pretty picture, but don’t trust my photoshop, because this dessert is ooey, gooey delicious! The “turtle” is one of my absolute favorite combinations, so when I saw this recipe I just knew I had to give it a try….
Turtle Tarte
INGREDIENTS:
- 1 package (17 ounces) oatmeal cookie mix
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 1 tablespoon water
- 1 egg
- 1 cup pecans-chopped
- 40 caramels, unwrapped
- 1/3 cup whipping cream
- 3/4 cup pecans, chopped
- 1 bag (11.5 ounces) semisweet chocolate chips
- 1/3 cup whipping cream
- 1/4 cup pecans-chopped
DIRECTIONS:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a large bowl, stir first 5 ingredients together. Press into the bottom and up the sides of an ungreased 9-inch tart pan with removable bottom. Bake for 18-20 minutes, cool for 10 minutes.
Meanwhile, microwave the caramels and 1/3 whipping cream on HIGH for 3 minutes, stirring occasionally until caramels are melted. Stir in 3/4 pecans. Spread over cooled crust, refrigerate 15 minutes.
In another microwavable bowl, microwave the chocolate chips and 1/3 cup cream on HIGH for 1 to 2 minutes, stirring twice until chocolate is melted. Pour over the filling. Sprinkle with pecans. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours. Store in refrigerator
