- In Dutch oven, brown pork and veal in warm oil. Season with pepper, add in soy sauce, brown sauce and just sufficient water to cover (about 2 1/2 c.). Heat to boiling; reduce heat. Cover and simmer 30 to 45 min or possibly till pork is tender. Add in celery and onion, cook till celery is crisp tender, about 5 min. Add in chow mein vegetables and mushrooms. Combine cornstarch with liquid from vegetables. Stir till warm and thickened. Add in green pepper, stir gently. Serve over chow mein noodles. Serves 12.
