Vegan gravy

This vegan gravy recipe can be used with my Millet meatless Loaf recipe.

Ingredientes

  • 8 tbsps vegetable oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 8 tbsps all purpose or whole wheat flour
  • 4 tsp nutritional yeast
  • 4 tbsps soya sauce or tamari
  • 2 cups water or vegetable stock
  • 1/2 tsp sage
  • 1/4 tsp black Pepper
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 5 to 7 mushrooms, finely chopped (optional)
  • Cornstarch or flour (optional) to thicken sauce if required

Direcciones

  1. Pour vegetable oil into a saucepan. Add and cook the garlic, onion and mushrooms for about two minutes on medium heat until the onions are tender and translucent. Add the flour, yeast, soya or tamari to make a paste. Add the water or stock gradually, while stirring constantly. Add the sage and salt. Bring the gravy to a boil on medium to high heat, stirring constantly. Let the gravy boil for a few minutes to thicken. Add Pepper. Adjust seasonings to your taste.
