Climbing in your windows. Snatching your pantry up. So, I love finding new ingredients to cook with. Sometimes I'll go the Asian supermarket and just grab stuff that looks interesting or has super kawaii packaging. Oh look, that bottle has a picture of a little happy squirrel on acid holding hands with a crying squid. Aww I need it. I also like things with lots on exclamation points on the package!!!! %20in%20which%20some%20fun%20ingredients%20were%20used%20(all%20tested%20out%20on%20my%20prot%C3%A9g%C3%A9%20Lucy).%20Some%20are%20wackier%20than%20others%20but%20all%20super%20delicious!!!%20Yes,%20they%20are%20all%20in%20the%20reddish%20brown%20color%20spectrum%20but%20it's%20not%20my%20fault%20that%20miss%20Lucy%20needs%20a%20quart%20of%20some%20form%20of%20hot%20sauce%20on%20everything%20she%20eats.%20She%20has%20a%20heat%20deficiency%20due%20to%20her%20cold%20black%20heart.%20It%20can't%20be%20helped.%20Anyways,%20here%20we%20go.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFilipino%20Black%20Vinegar%20Marinated%20Tofu%20Adobo%20with%20Red%20Pepper%20and%20Carrot.%20This%20one%20is%20pretty%20chill%20as%20far%20as%20crazy%20ingredients%20go.%20Aside%20from%20the%20black%20vinegar%20which%20is%20made%20from%20sugarcane%20and%20taste%20kinds%20like%20a%20really%20sour%20balsamic%20there%20is%20also%20a%20little%20bit%20of%20Maggi%20seasoning%20which%20taste%20kinda%20like%20soy%20sauce%20and%20Worcestershire%20mixed%20together.%20After%20marinating%20the%20tofu%20in%20soy%20sauce%20and%20black%20vinegar%20I%20seared%20it%20off%20in%20a%20hot%20pan%20with%20julienned%20red%20peppers,%20onions,%20carrots,%20and%20garlic.%20Added%20some%20of%20the%20marinade%20and%20a%20little%20veg%20stock%20and%20reduced%20a%20tiny%20bit.%20Yum.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EJerusalem%20Artichoke%20Angel%20Hair%20with%20Vegan%20Chorizo%20and%20Piment%C3%B3n%20Spiked%20Tomato%20Sauce.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20Jerusalem%20artichoke%20pasta%20has%20a%20similar%20texture%20to%20whole%20grain%20pasta%20(which%20truthfully%20I%20don't%20care%20for)%20but%20better.%20I%20did%20a%20South%20American%20style%20fideo%20(noodles)%20with%20a%20spicy%20smoked%20paprika%20laced%20tomato%20and%20roasted%20red%20pepper%20sauce.%20I%20crumbled%20in%20some%20vegan%20chorizo%20(Field%20Roast%20brand)%20which%20actually%20has%20a%20pretty%20great%20texture%20and%20flavor.%20Not%20at%20all%20like%20some%20other%20brands%20which%20taste%20like%20spicy%20wet%20sawdust.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESzechuan%20Fried%20Rice%20with%20Fried%20Lemongrass%20Tofu%20and%20Ch%C3%B2u%20D%C3%B2ufu%20(Preserved%20Tofu%20and%20Soybean).%20Fried%20rice%20made%20with%20tiny%20red%20Szechuan%20chilies%20that%20will%20burn%20your%20face%20off.%20I%20almost%20choked%20to%20death%20cooking%20this%20one.%20Ch%C3%B2u%20d%C3%B2ufu%20(also%20know%20as%20stink%20tofu%20or%20preserved%20tofu)%20smells%20like%20a%20rotten%20egg%20in%20a%20moldy%20wet%20sock.%20Here's%20the%20thing%20though.%20Cooked%20down%20it%20adds%20this%20amazing%20umami%20flavor%20that%20kills%20you%20with%20deliciousness.%20Super%20deep%20and%20rich%20and%20salty.%20A%20lot%20of%20people%20eat%20it%20raw%20which%20I%20cannot%20do.%20My%20gag%20reflex%20can't%20get%20past%20the%20lovely%20aroma.%20Super%20tasty%20cooked%20though.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMushroom%20%22Shrimp%20Ball%22%20and%20Soba%20Noodle%20White%20Miso%20Soup.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20bought%20these%20taro%20root%20mushroom%20%22meatballs%22%20at%20Uwajimaya.%20They%20lay%20right%20next%20to%20the%20giant%20pink%20knobby%20fake%20ham%20logs.%20They're%20awesome.%20Firm%20and%20chewy%20in%20texture%20they%20really%20do%20well%20at%20impersonating%20shrimp%20balls.%20I%20would%20be%20fooled.%20The%20broth%20was%20white%20miso%20mixed%20into%20a%20little%20veggie%20stock%20and%20some%20soy%20and%20chili.%20Simple.%20Soba%20noodles%20are%20pretty%20much%20my%20favorite%20noodle.%20They%20are%20made%20from%20buckwheat.%20So%20yummy.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EVegan%20%22Steak%22%20and%20Kidney%22%20Pie%20(Deconstructed)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAnother%20Uwajimaya%20purchase,%20these%20fake%20kidneys%20looked%20like%20the%20inside%20of%20a%20bicycle%20tire.%20They%20were%20tasty%20though%20(although%20I've%20never%20eaten%20a%20tire%20so%20who%20knows).%20Lucy%20wanted%20steak%20and%20kidney%20pie%20but%20she%20is%20vegan.%20Damn%20you%20food%20network%20for%20putting%20terrible%20ideas%20into%20our%20impressionable%20minds!%20I%20also%20used%20boca%20meat%20crumbles%20for%20the%20steak%20portion%20and%20the%20usual%20suspects%20in%20steak%20and%20kidney%20pie.%20It%20was%2090%20degrees%20outside%20that%20day%20so%20instead%20of%20baking%20(screw%20that%20nonsense)%20I%20made%20a%20%22crust%22%20using%20honey%20panko%20and%20vegan%20butter.%20Lucy%20said%20it%20was%20delicious.%20Now%20I%20crave%20the%20real%20deal.%20Bollocks!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAnyways,%20try%20new%20things.%20Get%20creative.%20Have%20fun%20but%20don't%20stick%20your%20face%20in%20a%20hot%20deep%20fryer%20or%20juggle%20your%20chef%20knives.%20That%20would%20be%20dangerous.%20xoxo%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
