%20before%20I%20had%20gotten%20to%20try%20everything%20and%20I%20suspect%20that%20I%20would%20really%20enjoy%20ham.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWe%20also%20had%20hash%20browns%20made%20with%20white%20potatoes,%20onion,%20red%20bell%20pepper,%202%20Tbsp%20of%20butter,%20and%202%20tsp%20of%20chipotle%20oil.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAdam%20bought%20me%20some%20fourth%20year%20gifts%20for%20our%20anniversary.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EA%20book%20with%20a%20sweet%20inscription,%20persimmons%20for%20fruit%20and%20rugelach%20for%20flour%20(substituted%20for%20flour%20because%20we%20were%20going%20out-of-town).%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%E2%80%99ve%20been%20picking%20up%20the%20persimmons%20and%20deciding%20that%20they%20were%20too%20expensive%20to%20splurge%20on%20for%20weeks%20at%20the%20grocery,%20so%20they%20were%20such%20a%20nice%20surprise.%20%20We%20split%20part%20of%20one%20persimmon%20but%20decided%20that%20it%20wasn%E2%80%99t%20ripe%20enough%20yet.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAdam%20was%20careful%20to%20buy%20squishy%20ones%20because%20once%20in%20the%20city,%20before%20we%20knew%20better,%20we%20tried%20to%20eat%20an%20unripe%20persimmon%20and%20about%20died%20when%20all%20the%20moisture%20was%20sucked%20from%20our%20mouths!%20%20This%20one%20had%20a%20good%20flavor%20but%20was%20still%20a%20little%20cotton-mouthy.%20%20So%20we%20washed%20it%20away%20with%20rugelach.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20snack%20was%20perfect%20to%20bring%20us%20into%20lunch.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20had%20an%20Applegate%20Farms%20Turkey%20Bologna%20sandwich%20on%20half%20a%20cheddar%20jalapeno%20bialey%20with%20a%20little%20bit%20of%20Miracle%20Whip.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPlus%20a%20huge%20pile%20of%20roasted%20green%20beans.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAdam%20hates%20jalapeno%20but%20knew%20I%E2%80%99d%20like%20that%20bialey%20more%20than%20the%20others%20and%20I%20gave%20him%20the%20half%20with%20more%20cheese,%20so%20we%20both%20compromised%20in%20the%20name%20of%20love.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIt%20would%20have%20been%20easy%20and%20fun%20to%20go%20out%20for%20a%20romantic%20dinner,%20so%20I%E2%80%99m%20extra%20proud%20of%20us%20that%20we%20stayed%20home%20and%20cooked%20together%20instead.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20started%20by%20steam-sauteing%203%20chopped%20zucchini%20in%20a%20bit%20of%20chicken%20stock.%20%20Then%20I%20finished%20them%20off%20with%201%20Tbsp%20of%20evoo%20and%20this%20packet%20of%20Garlic%20Gold%20I%20got%20in%20my%20HLS%20swag.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20was%20expecting%20to%20adore%20the%20Garlic%20Gold%20after%20all%20the%20love%20it%20got%20in%20the%20healthy%20living%20blog%20community,%20but%20we%20found%20it%20to%20be%20pretty%20%E2%80%9Cmeh.%E2%80%9D%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWe%20set%20the%20cooked%20zucchini%20aside%20and%20while%20Adam%20boiled%203%20servings%20of%20pasta%20I%20made%20a%20roux%20with%202%20Tbsp%20of%20butter,%202%20Tbsp%20of%20flour,%20and%201%20Tbsp%20of%20milk.%20%20Into%20that,%20I%20whisked%201%20cup%20of%20skim%20milk%20and%201/2%20cup%20of%20shredded%20sharp%20cheddar%20cheese.%20%20Once%20the%20sauce%20came%20together%20all%20we%20had%20to%20do%20was%20toss%20it%20with%20the%20cooked%20squash%20and%20pasta.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWe%20topped%20our%20bowls%20with%20a%20bit%20of%20panko%20and%20more%20cheese.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EDinner%20was%20great,%20definitely%20as%20good%20as%20anything%20we%20would%20have%20gotten%20in%20a%20restaurant.%20%20This%20was%20on%20the%20healthy%20side,%20but%20now%20I%20am%20absolutely%20going%20to%20make%20a%20similar%20sauce%20and%20use%20it%20in%20oozey,%20gooey%20mac%20and%20cheese.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWe%20stayed%20up%20later%20than%20planned%20watching%20%E2%80%9CThat%2070%E2%80%B2s%20Show,%E2%80%9D%20which%20was%20good%20for%20anniversary%20fun%20but%20bad%20for%20me%20working%20out%20this%20morning.%20%20I%20can%E2%80%99t%20do%20anything%20active%20here%20in%20Ohio%20and%20I%E2%80%99m%20worried%20that%20all%20my%20vacation%20workout%20momentum%20will%20be%20for%20naught.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThursday%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EToday%20was%20a%20day%20of%20many%20meals.%20%20Due%20in%20parts%20to%20time%20of%20the%20month%20and%20restlessness%20from%207%20hours%20in%20the%20car.%20%20And%20we%20got%20junky%20food%20too;%20a%20healthy%20living%20blog%20no-no%20but%20an%20unavoidable%20part%20of%20existing%20in%20the%20real%20world.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EChicken%20biscuit%20from%20Chick-fill-a.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20leftover%20serving%20of%20dinner.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EA%20juicy%20pear.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAnimal%20crackers%20split%20with%20Adam%20(70/30%20his%20favor).%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMid-way%20we%20got%20to%20stop%20for%20froyo.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20got%20eggnog%20and%20toffee%20mocha%20yogurts,%20topped%20with%20candy%20bar%20pieces%20and%20some%20marshmallow%20topping.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAlas%20both%20of%20my%20flavors%20were%20too%20spicy%20and%20I%20ended%20up%20throwing%20most%20of%20mine%20away.%20%20It%20was%20a%20sad%20day%20indeed.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBut%20hundreds%20of%20miles%20later%20we%20found%20a%20Sonic%20and%20I%20ordered%20a%20diet%20coke%20with%20strawberry%20that%20totally%20made%20up%20for%20it.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAdam%20and%20I%20also%20split%20fries%20and%20chicken%20tenders.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EGood%20thing%20my%20grandma%20served%20a%20lateish%20dinner,%20huh?%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWebster%20was%20a%20perfect%20angel%20for%2095%25%20of%20the%20drive.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWe%20even%20got%20to%20take%20him%20in%20to%20meet%20my%20grandpa%20this%20afternoon.%20%20I%20like%20it%20when%20all%20the%20men%20in%20my%20life%20are%20well-acquainted.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPer%20usual,%20my%20grandma%20made%20a%20great%20dinner.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESide%20salad,%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Ewhich%20I%20only%20could%20eat%20a%20few%20bites%20of%20because%20I%20felt%20like%20food%20was%20coming%20out%20of%20my%20ears.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAfter%20dinner,%20Nana%20and%20Adam%20worked%20on%20a%20750-piece%20puzzle%20while%20I%20wrote%20this%20monster%20post.%20%20I%20hate%20all%20these%20super%20long%20posts%20I%E2%80%99ve%20been%20writing%20lately!%20%20I%20know%20none%20of%20my%20readers%20are%20interesting%20in%20scrolling%20for%20hours,%20but%20since%20I%20use%20my%20blog%20as%20a%20journal%20I%20don%E2%80%99t%20want%20to%20skip%20days%20that%20are%20so%20great.%20%20I%20promise%20to%20get%20back%20to%20a%20less%20annoying%20schedule%20once%20I%E2%80%99m%20home%20for%20good.%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
