%20came%20to%20visit%20me!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EShe%20is%20a%20teacher%20in%20Florida%20and%20we%20do%20not%20get%20to%20see%20each%20other%20often%20enough.%20%20We%20had%20a%20blast%20getting%20some%20time%20together%20in%20city%20this%20weekend.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhen%20I%20wasn%E2%80%99t%20celebrating%20or%20giggling,%20here%E2%80%99s%20some%20of%20what%20I%20ate%E2%80%A6%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Ebreakfast%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOur%20favorite%20smoothie.%20%20Frozen%20strawberries%20and%20chocolate%20peppermint%20soy%20milk.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhole%20Foods%20was%20having%20a%20sale%20and%20I%20was%20able%20to%20grab%20two%20final%20cartons%20of%20the%20soy%20milk%20before%20it%20disappears%20for%20the%20year.%20%20Normally%20I%E2%80%99m%20a%20stickler%20for%20sticking%20to%20seasonal%20treats%20but%20this%20smoothie%20is%20so%20good%20it%E2%80%99s%20worth%20breaking%20the%20rules%20for.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThai%20leftovers,%20cold%20from%20the%20container%20%E2%80%93%20aka%20the%20best%20way%20to%20eat%20them.%20%20I%20added%20more%20(cold)%20rice%20after%20I%20took%20that%20picture.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBy%20the%20by,%20these%20were%20leftovers%20from%20Thursday%20night,%20not%20the%20Thai%20food%20I%E2%80%99m%20going%20to%20show%20you%20for%20Friday%E2%80%99s%20dinner.%20%20Apparently%20I%E2%80%99ve%20been%20doing%20a%20lot%20of%20Thai!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EA%20lazy%20Sunday%20breakfast.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhen%20Adam%20got%20home%20from%20his%20night%20shift,%20the%20three%20of%20us%20took%20a%20lovely%20family%20walk%20to%20the%20grocery%20stores%20for%20supplies%20and%20then%20we%20whipped%20up%20a%20great%20meal.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EEggnog%20french%20toast%20(on%20gingerbread%20swirl!)%20with%20maple%20syrup%20and%20blackberries.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWith%20turkey%20bacon.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAnd%20cold%20brew%20coffee%20with%20a%20little%20skim%20milk%20and%20the%20last%20of%20the%20%E2%80%98nog.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECold%20brew%20is%20the%20best!%20%20I%20think%20I%20finally%20found%20a%20recipe%20with%20a%20ratio%20that%20works%20for%20me.%20%20%7B1%20and%201/4%20cups%20water%20and%201/4%20cup%20grounds,%20soaked%20overnight%20then%20pressed%7D%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Elunch%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPacked%20on%20Friday.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ETJ%E2%80%99s%20Vanilla%20Bean%20Greek%20Yogurt%20with%20a%20packet%20of%20Justin%E2%80%99s%20Chocolate%20Hazelnut%20Butter,%20quite%20the%20tasty%20combination.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPlus%20a%20little%20apple.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%E2%80%99ve%20been%20finding%20the%20tiniest%20apples%20this%20year.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOn%20a%20fancy%20and%20romantic%20date%20with%20the%20husband.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EHa!%20%20Yes,%20that%20is%20Whole%20Food%E2%80%99s%20hot%20bar.%20%20So%20not%20super%20fancy,%20but%20pricy%20at%20least.%20%20And%20I%20think%20everything%20we%20do%20is%20romantic;%20I%20legit%20consider%20going%20grocery%20shopping%20with%20my%20husband%20a%20date!%20%20Besides,%20hot%20bar%20is%20delicious.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20got%20veggies,%20salad%20with%20salmon,%20and%20mac%20and%20cheese.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOn%20Sunday%20we%20all%20met%20for%20lunch%20at%20PJ%20Clarke%E2%80%99s%20near%20Lincoln%20Square.%20%20I%20*had*%20to%20order%20a%20Bloody%20Mary%20%E2%80%93%20%E2%80%9CSister%20Mary%20Walks%20Funny:%20Juice%20of%20Tomato,%20Huy%20Fong%20Sriracha,%20Worcestershire,%20Sea%20Salt,%20Blue%20Cheese%20Olives.%E2%80%9D%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESadly%20it%20was%20all%20tomato,%20with%20barely%20any%20spice%20or%20vodka,%20but%20the%20blue%20cheese%20olives%20were%20fantastic.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAdam%20and%20I%20split%20the%20fish%20and%20chips%20for%20lunch.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESo%20good!%20%20The%20meat%20was%20almost%20creamy%20inside%20the%20breading.%20%20And%20it%20came%20with%20a%20Shiner%20Bock%20remoulade%20that%20we%20both%20adored.%20%20I%20want%20to%20go%20back%20for%20the%20lobster%20roll!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Esnacks%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20was%20given%20lots%20of%20chocolate%20to%20eat%20my%20way%20through.%20%20A%20honey%20almond%20praline%20chocolate%20from%20Adam.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAnd%20a%20Smokehouse%20BBQ%20Potato%20Chip%20dark%20chocolate%20bar%20from%20my%20stocking.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20loved%20the%20idea%20of%20this%20bar%20in%20theory,%20but%20the%20chocolate%20was%20just%20too%20dark%20to%20pair%20with%20the%20chips.%20%20Such%20a%20shame%20because%20I%E2%80%99ve%20been%20head%20over%20heels%20for%20the%20other%20Wild%20Ophelia%20bars%20I%E2%80%99ve%20tried.%20%20I%20think%20my%20flavor%20preference%20is%20shifting%20towards%20milk%20chocolate.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%E2%80%99ve%20been%20trying%20to%20make%20a%20good%20Greek%20yogurt%20%E2%80%9Ccookie%20dough%E2%80%9D%20for%20ages%20and%20now%20that%20I%20have%20almond%20flour%20in%20my%20kitchen%20I%20think%20I%E2%80%99m%20finally%20getting%20close.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20really%20dislike%20chocolate%20chips%20though,%20and%20always%20end%20up%20eating%20around%20them.%20%20I%20need%20to%20try%20to%20find%20some%20other%20kind%20of%20morsel%20chocolate.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMy%20fizz%20idea%20has%20been%20a%20winner%20from%20day%201%20though.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20was%20a%20lemon%20dulce%20de%20leche%20popsicle%20in%20vanilla%20seltzer%20with%20a%20splash%20of%20lavender%20syrup.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Edinner%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMee%20Thai%20in%20Park%20Slope%20with%20my%20friend%20and%20her%20sister.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20restaurant%20was%20new%20to%20me%20(all%20of%20our%20favorite%20spots%20from%20when%20we%20lived%20in%20PS%20before%20have%20closed)%20but%20thankfully%20we%20all%20loved%20our%20meals.%20%20My%20Pad%20See%20Ew%20with%20mock%20duck%20was%20nice%20and%20spicy.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ELazy%20Sunday%20dinner.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWe%20came%20home%20from%20the%20city%20soaked%20with%20rain%20and%20salad%20and%20sandwiches%20were%20all%20we%20could%20handle.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ERomaine%20with%20champagne%20pear%20vinaigrette,%20chia%20seeds,%20and%20smoked%20almonds.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESmoked%20turkey%20and%20light%20Jarlsberg%20sandwiches%20with%20dijon%20and%20Sriracha%20mayo,%20on%20gingerbread%20swirl%20cooked%20in%20a%20little%20butter.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ENothing%20too%20fancy%20but%20it%20did%20the%20trick.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%E2%80%99ll%20see%20you%20next%20year!%20%7Bhardy,%20har,%20har%7D%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ELike%20Loading...%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ERelated%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
