Receta Wheat and Besan Ompodi
Ingredients:
- Wheat Flour – 3 cups
- Gram Flour – 1 cup
- Omam (Ajwain) – 2 tsp, soaked for 30 minutes
- Green Chillies – 3
- Salt – 1 1/2 tsp
- Asafoetida Powder – 1/2 tsp
- Butter – 1 tsp
- Oil – 250 ml
Method:
1. Tie the wheat flour in a cloth and steam cook for 2 to 3 minutes.
2. Transfer to a plate and allow it to cool.
3. Sieve well.
4. Grind the green chillies and dried omam to a fine paste.
5. Strain well and keep the strained water aside.
6. Combine the gram flour and wheat flour in a bowl.
7. Add salt, asafoetida powder, strained omam water and butter.
8. Gently add enough water and mix well.
9. Add the dough to a ompodi press.
10. Heat oil in a pan.
11. Gently squeeze the ompodi over the hot oil.
12. Fry till light golden and remove.
13. Drain excess oil.
14. Store in an airtight container.
