%20I%20learned%20that%20compared%20to%20commonly%20ordered%20items%20from%20fast%20food%20giants%20like%20Taco%20Bell,%20McDonald's,%20Burger%20King,%20and%20even%20Dunkin'%20Donuts,%20a%20breadless%20chicken%20sandwich%20could%20really%20be%20considered%20the%20least%20of%20your%20concerns,%20as%20far%20as%20eating%20habits%20go.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThat%20doesn't%20mean%20that%20I'm%20preaching%20that%20the%20Double%20Down%20is%20the%20best%20thing%20out%20there%20for%20you.%20It%20doesn't%20even%20mean%20that%20you%20should%20go%20get%20one.%20I'm%20just%20trying%20to%20relay%20that,%20perhaps,%20the%20Double%20Down%20isn't%20the%20Satan's%20Sandwich%20the%20media%20has%20made%20it%20out%20to%20be.%20And%20where%20better%20to%20start%20than%20with%20the%20specs%20of%20the%20Double%20Down%20itself?%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20Fried%20Double%20Down%20is%20a%20pretty%20hefty%20sandwich.%20It%20weighs%20in%20at%20at%20least%201/3%20lb.%20It's%20got%20540%20calories,%2032%20grams%20of%20fat,%20and%201380mg%20of%20sodium.%20But%20the%20sandwich%20has%20hardly%20any%20carbs%20(11g%20for%20the%20regular%20DD%20and%20only%203g%20for%20the%20grilled)%20due%20to%20its%20lack%20of%20bread,%20and%20has%2053%20g%20protein%20because%20of%20all%20the%20meat.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOkay,%20so%20now%20to%20put%20those%20numbers%20into%20perspective.%20A%20friend%20of%20mine%20who%20works%20at%20a%20local%20McDonald's%20said%20that%20the%20item%20he%20sees%20selling%20most%20is%20a%20large%20Big%20Mac%20combo.%20That%20Big%20Mac%20has%20540%20calories,%2029%20total%20grams%20of%20fat,%20and%201040mg%20of%20sodium.%20The%20fries%20have%20500%20calories,%2025%20total%20grams%20of%20fat,%20and%20350mg%20of%20sodium.%20Add%20that%20up,%20and%20you%20get%20a%20total%20of%201040%20calories,%2054%20total%20grams%20of%20fat,%20and%201390mg%20of%20sodium,%20and%20none%20of%20that%20is%20including%20your%20drink.%20You%20also%20get%20108%20grams%20of%20carbs%20in%20that%20meal.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBut%20that%20doesn't%20affect%20you,%20because%20you're%20a%20salad%20person.%20Okay,%20fine.%20According%20to%20Burger%20King's%20nutrition%20facts,%20found%20on%20their%20website,%20a%20Tendercrisp%20garden%20salad%20has%20410%20calories,%2023g%20of%20fat,%20and%201000mg%20of%20sodium,%20and%20that's%20without%20your%20dressing.%20A%20Tendergrill%20chicken%20salad%20is%20only%20marginally%20better%20for%20you,%20with%20210%20calories,%207%20total%20grams%20of%20fat,%20and%20780mg%20of%20sodium.%20But%20as%20soon%20as%20you%20add%20dressing%20onto%20that,%20however%20healthy%20you%20were%20trying%20to%20be%20goes%20right%20out%20the%20window.%20At%20only%2050%20calories,%20the%20best%20dressing%20you%20could%20get%20would%20be%20the%20fat%20free%20ranch,%20but%20you'd%20be%20sacrificing%20the%20rest%20of%20your%20daily%20sodium%20count.%20With%20740mg%20of%20sodium,%20that%20brings%20your%20Tendergrill%20salad%20up%20to%201520mg%20of%20sodium,%20and%20your%20Tendercrisp%20salad%20up%20to%20a%20whopping%201740mg%20of%20sodium.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAccording%20to%20the%20manager%20of%20a%20local%20Dunkin'%20Donuts,%20the%20two%20most%20popular%20non-donut%20food%20items%20%20his%20location%20sells%20are%20a%20sausage,%20egg,%20and%20cheese%20on%20a%20croissant,%20and%20the%20turkey,%20cheddar,%20and%20bacon%20flatbreads.%20Those%20have%20640%20calories,%2043g%20of%20fat,%201250mg%20of%20sodium%20and%20410%20calories,%2020%20grams%20of%20fat,%20and%201110mg%20of%20sodium,%20respectively.%20By%20themselves.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESuddenly,%20that%20Double%20Down%20doesn't%20look%20so%20bad,%20huh?%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBut%20the%20Double%20Down%20does%20take%20up%20a%20little%20over%201/4%20of%20your%20daily%20calories,%20if%20you're%20on%20a%202,000%20calorie%20diet.%20And%20that's%20assuming%20you're%20eating%20three%20square%20meals%20a%20day.%20Many%20people%20nowadays%20rely%20on%20heavily%20processed%20foods%20from%20the%20grocer's%20freezer%20section,%20and%20frozen%20%22dieter's%20meals%22%20like%20Healthy%20Choice,%20Lean%20Cuisine,%20and%20Smart%20Ones%20are%20all%20loaded%20with%20added%20sodium%20to%20compensate%20for%20the%20lack%20of%20fat%20(and,%20therefore,%20flavor.)%20But,%20if%20you%20only%20eat,%20say,%20twice%20a%20day,%20a%20Double%20Down%20may%20not%20be%20as%20bad%20for%20you%20as%20you%20think%20it%20might%20be.%20I'll%20use%20myself%20as%20an%20example.%20Three%20days%20of%20the%20week,%20I%20get%20up%20at%20about%206:30,%20and%20by%207:30%20I'm%20on%20the%20road%20to%20school.%20I%20don't%20have%20time%20for%20a%20breakfast,%20unless%20you%20count%20the%20Mtn%20Dew%20I%20chug%20on%20the%20road.%20I%20have%20classes%20almost%20back-to-back%20throughout%20the%20day%20(except%20for%20the%20campus-wide%20%22activity%20period%22%20from%2011-12),%20and%20I%20don't%20eat%20again%20until%20I%20get%20home%20at%20about%202:45.%20So,%20if%20I%20took%20my%20activity%20period%20and%20ran%20up%20to%20the%20nearest%20KFC,%20getting%20a%20Double%20Down%20wouldn't%20hurt%20me.%20I'm%
