- Sprinkle yeast over warm water in measuring cup. Let stand till foamy, about 3 min.2. Put together hot lowfat milk, sugar, butter, salt and cardamom in large bowl. Add in water. Let stand till lukewarm.
- Stir egg, mixed fruit, raisins and yeast mix into lowfat milk mix. Add in flour, 1/2 cup at a time, till stiff dough is formed. Turn out onto floured surface. Knead 5 to 7 min till smooth and elastic, adding flour as needed to prevent sticking.
- Press dough into large buttered bowl; turn to bring buttered side up. Cover with towel. Let rise in warm place, away from drafts, till doubled, about 1 hour.
- Divide dough in half. Form into 2 round loaves. Place on greased baking sheet. Cover. Let rise till doubled in size, about 1 hour.
- Bake in preheated moderate oven, 350 degrees for 25 to 30 min or possibly till loaves sound hollow when tapped on bottoms. Transfer to wire racks to cool.
- Drizzle glaze over top.
