%20HERE%20are%20some%20older%20Flashback%20Friday%20posts%20to%20check%20out.%20Huh...Flashbacks%20to%20Flashbacks.%20That's%20getting%20too%20deep%20for%20me!!!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20Friday%20I'm%20sharing%20a%20recipe%20for%20a%20favorite%20food%20from%20my%20past.%20Sometimes%20I%20get%20a%20little%20%22foodsick%22%20for%20my%20home%20state%20cooking%20and%20I%20have%20to%20try%20my%20best%20to%20whip%20up%20something%20myself%20to%20get%20over%20it.%20There's%20a%20restaurant%20in%20Lafayette,%20La%20called%20Dwyer's%20Cafe%20that%20serves%20great%20plate%20lunches%20and%20the%20best%20sweet%20potato%20pancakes%20in%20the%20world.%20And%20I%20have%20been%20craving%20them%20for%20a%20while.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThey%20don't%20have%20a%20web%20page%20that%20I%20can%20find%20but%20they%20do%20have%20a%20Facebook%20page%20that%20you%20gotta%20love.%20They%20post%20the%20specials%20of%20the%20day.%20Here's%20a%20list%20of%20what%20they%20had%20going%20on%20today.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EROAST%20BEEF,%20PORK%20SAUSAGE,%20STUFFED%20BELL%20PEPPER%20W/%20beef%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECATFISH%20COURTBOULLION,%20FRIED%20CHICKEN,%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECOMBINATION%20SALAD,%20MACARONI%20SALAD,%20FRUIT%20SALAD%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBAKED%20BEANS,%20STRING%20BEANS,%20SQUASH,%20EGGPLANT%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWHITE%20OR%20BROWN%20RICE,%20AUGRATIN%20POTATOES,%20JAMBALAYA,%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E...BLACKBERRY%20COBBLERIs%20your%20mouth%20watering????%20I%20know%20mine%20is!!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20found%20a%20great%20recipe%20recently%20on%20Closet%20Cooking%20(one%20of%20my%20favorite%20food%20blogs)%20for%20sweet%20potato%20pancakes,%20so%20I%20thought%20I%20would%20give%20them%20a%20try%20and%20see%20if%20they%20satisfied%20my%20envie%20(Cajun%20for%20craving)%20for%20Dwyer's%20version.%20It%20came%20pretty%20close!%20And%20my%20stash%20of%20Steen's%20Cane%20Syrup%20that%20I%20brought%20home%20from%20my%20list%20trip%20to%20La%20helped%20to%20make%20it%20even%20closer%20since%20that%20is%20what%20they%20serve%20with%20it.%20Cane%20syrup%20is%20similar%20to%20molasses%20but%20not%20as%20dark%20or%20strong.%20It%20has%20a%20distinct%20flavor%20all%20its%20own.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThey%20would%20be%20great%20with%20regular%20syrup%20too...so%20don't%20let%20your%20lack%20of%20Steen's%20throw%20you%20off.%20I%20made%20enough%20to%20have%20some%20for%20breakfasts%20on%20the%20go%20during%20the%20work%20week.%20They%20were%20yummy%20spread%20with%20a%20little%20peanut%20butter/Steen's%20mix%20too.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESweet%20Potato%20Pie%20Pancakes%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Efrom%20Kevin%20at%20Closet%20Cooking%20(if%20my%20picture%20doesn't%20make%20you%20want%20some%20his%20WILL)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E8%20pancakes%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIngredients:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EDirections:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1.%20Mix%20the%20flour,%20baking%20powder,%20sugar,%20cinnamon%20and%20nutmeg%20in%20a%20large%20bowl.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E2.%20Mix%20the%20buttermilk,%20egg,%20butter%20and%20mashed%20sweet%20potato%20in%20another%20bowl.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E3.%20Mix%20the%20wet%20and%20dry%20ingredients%20making%20sure%20to%20not%20over%20mix.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E4.%20Heat%20a%20pan%20and%20melt%20a%20touch%20of%20butter%20in%20it.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E5.%20Pour%201/4%20cup%20of%20the%20mixture%20into%20the%20pan%20and%20heat%20until%20the%20surface%20starts%20to%20bubble%20and%20the%20bottom%20is%20golden%20brown,%20about%202-3%20minutes.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E6.%20Flip%20the%20pancake%20and%20cook%20the%20other%20side%20until%20the%20bottom%20is%20golden%20brown,%20about%201-2%20minutes.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20just%20have%20to%20add%20this%20picture%20of%20my%20cousin%20Danny%20enjoying%20a%20cup%20of%20coffee%20in%20the%20little%20outdoor%20dining%20area%20at%20Dwyers.%20I%20think%20he'd%20had%20a%20late%20night%20and%20the%20sun%20was%20wayyyyy%20to%20bright%20:-)%20Love%20ya%20Little%20Danny!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIf%20you%20have%20a%20Flashback%20of%20any%20kind%20that%20you'd%20like%20to%20share%20please%20add%20your%20link%20here%20and%20link%20back%20to%20me%20on%20your%20blog%20-%20or%20share%20a%20favorite%20flashback%20in%20the%20comments%20section%20if%20you%20don't%20have%20a%20blog.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI'm%20joining%20in%20over%20at%20Designs%20by%20Gollum%20for%20Foodie%20Friday%20this%20week.%20Check%20it%20out%20HERE.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAnd%20I'm%20joining%20in%20for%20Sweet%20Tooth%20Friday%20for%20the%20first%20time.%20Visit%20it%20HERE.%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
