I’ve always loved the craft of mixing cocktails; I’ve even got recipes in an very old notebook that I made when I was just barely old enough to legally imbibe. Beyond my own love of food and cocktails I have always enjoyed mixing them for friends and that segue to sharing them here came naturally. Still; my initial effort a couple of years ago was thwarted for some time by an injury that has taken way too long to mend but I’m up and out and about again and it became a natural progression over the past year to build a repertoire of drinks, liqueurs and more.

%20and%20after%20a%20year%20of%20doing%20a%20cocktail%20every%20week,%20it%E2%80%99s%20easy%20to%20see%20some%20trends%20from%20this%20perspective.%20Fall%20and%20winter%20are%20warm%20and%20serious%20for%20the%20most%20part,%20drinks%20that%20include%20bourbon,%20rye,%20scotch%20and%20tequila%20and%20include%20more%20of%20the%20Classics%20I%20love%20to%20research%20where%20I%20often%20discover%20a%20surprisingly%20storied%20history.%20Spring%20and%20summer%20become%20more%20seasonally%20inclined%20in%20the%20ingredients%20used%20and%20include%20a%20cacophony%20of%20fruits%20and%20much%20more%20frivolity.%20I%E2%80%99ve%20done%20fruity%20and%20%20fizzy%20and%20have%20even%20included%20boozy%20popsicles%20and%20ice%20cream%20in%20the%20mix.%20Not%20to%20be%20forgotten%20has%20been%20the%20creative%20venture%20of%20making%20my%20own%20liqueurs%20and%20this%20year%20I%E2%80%99m%20left%20to%20wonder%20where%20on%20earth%20I%20will%20store%20the%20continued%20fruits%20of%20my%20labors%20(Next?%20Wine%20jelly.%20So%20easy,%20so%20good.%20GREAT%20gifts%20too).%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20can%E2%80%99t%20let%20this%20occasion%20pass%20without%20a%20birthday%20party%20so%20be%20sure%20to%20visit%20next%20Friday.%20I%E2%80%99ll%20have%20some%20wonderful%20blogging%20friends%20dropping%20by%20and%20sharing%20a%20cocktail%20with%20all%20of%20you,%20some%20great%20prizes%20(yes,%20including%20booze!)%20and%20maybe,%20finally,%20what%20some%20might%20consider%20the%20quintessential%20cocktail%E2%80%A6no,%20I%E2%80%99m%20not%20telling%20but%20I%20would%20love%20to%20know%20what%20YOU%20think%20it%20might%20be!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EToday?%20Some%20favorites%20from%20the%20past%20year.%20Not%20based%20on%20a%20popular%20vote%20but%20just%20ones%20that%20I%E2%80%99ve%20made%20and%20simply%20LOVED.%20Still,%20I%20can%E2%80%99t%20honor%20this%20effort%20without%20a%20reminder%20of%20what%20started%20this%20entire%20series.%20The%20Vootbeer.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EVodka%20and%20Rootbeer%20mixed%20together%20with%20a%20dollop%20of%20whipping%20cream%20and%20a%20maraschino%20cherry.%20The%20first%20cocktail%20post%20that%20started%20a%20weekly%20series.%20I%20remain%20amazed%20that%20it%20has%20been%20in%20the%20top%20ten%20of%20my%20most%20visited%20posts%20every%20single%20week%20of%20the%20past%20year!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20loved%20this%20cocktail%20and%20I%20loved%20this%20photo;%20it%20so%20clearly%20conveyed%20just%20how%20great%20this%20drink%20is.%20Crisp%20and%20with%20a%20touch%20of%20fruit%20it%20is%20Gin,%20ginger%20ale%20and%20cranberry%20simple%20syrup.%20Simply%20wonderful.%20I%20think%20a%20perfect%20holiday%20cocktail.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ELove%20tequila?%20This%20one%20was%20surprising%20and%20OH%20SO%20GOOD.%20Coffee,%20Kahlua%20and%20tequila%E2%80%A6sort%20of%20a%20coffee%20with%20a%20kick.%20Flame%20at%20your%20own%20risk%20but%20I%20LOVED%20it!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMy%20first%20adult%20cocktail%20that%20I%20recall%20ordering%20at%20a%20restaurant%20and%20I%20just%20loved%20it.%20That%20has%20not%20changed.%20Rum,%20homemade%20Grenadine%20syrup,%20lime%20and%20soda.%20Simple%20and%20delicious.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EQuintessential.%20Simple.%20Fabulous.%20Don%E2%80%99t%20you%20DARE%20buy%20a%20sour%20mix%20ever%20again!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBorrowed%20from%20a%20local%20Denver%20watering%20hole%20this%20cocktail%20is%20unique%20and%20oh%20so%20delicious.%20The%20rosemary%20simple%20syrup%20makes%20it%20so.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ENot%20as%20herbacious%20as%20it%E2%80%99s%20cousin%20Campari,%20Aperol%20is%20relatively%20new%20to%20the%20US%20but%20this%20cocktail%20is%20hugely%20popular%20in%20Italy%20as%20an%20apertif.%20Try%20one%20and%20you%E2%80%99ll%20see%20why.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EJust%20one%20of%20the%20liqueurs%20I%E2%80%99ve%20made%20this%20past%20year%20but%20I%20can%20not%20deny%20it%E2%80%99s%20a%20favorite.%20Great%20on%20it%E2%80%99s%20own%20from%20the%20freezer%20I%E2%80%99ve%20also%20used%20it%20in%20cheesecake%20and%20ice%20cream.%20Start%20soon%20and%20make%20your%20own%20for%20holiday%20gifts!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20is%20my%20all%20time%20favorite%20mixed%20drink.%20Fresh%20fruits,%20good%20quality%20tequila%20and%20orange%20liqueur%20and%20you%20can%20not%20go%20wrong.%20I%E2%80%99ve%20enjoyed%20other%20margaritas%20this%20summer,%20most%20noticeably%20this%20blood%20orange%20stunner%20and%20the%20unique%20Caprese%20margarita%20from%20a%20local%20restaurant%20but%20this%20one,%20this%20cocktail%E2%80%A6it%E2%80%99s%20the%20one%20I%E2%80%99m%20known%20for%20and%20I%E2%80%99m%20good%20with%20that!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThough%20not%20the%20end%20of%20this%20year,%20I%20guess%20it%20seems%20fitting%20to%20celebrate%20the%20end%20of%20my%20first%20full%20year%20of%20cocktails%20with%20this%20one%20I%20like%20to%20serve%20on%20New%20Years%20Eve.%20Simple%20and%20gorgeous%20but%20like%20it%E2%80%99s%20namesake,%20it%20packs%20a%20potent%20punch!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWant%20more%E2%80%A6here%E2%80%99s%20the%20entire%20Friday%20Cocktail%20collection%20and%20don%E2%80%99t%20forget%20%E2%80%
