Acerca de mí
I'm looking for recipes to try out on my guinea pig. He'll eat almost anything, so I can make a multitude of dishes and he'll at least try it. Unfortunately, he doesn't have a problem telling me if it's bad. I'm not sure if that's a good thing, but I don't make the same recipe twice if he doesn't like it. I don't make the same recipe twice anyway. Of course that's easy when I'm only cooking three or four times a week for someone other than myself.
I'm in the process of starting a blog about my kitchen, my upcoming wedding, my wonderful guinea pig, and whatever else crosses my mind. I have no idea what it'll be about, but I've been wanting to write one for ages and I figured why not start one now. I like to write, I like to cook and bake, and I enjoy eating. I started writing my blog and I have to say, so far it's going well. Definitely a work in progress.
My blog....agirlandherguineapig.blogspot.com
My hope is that it's funny, charming, and eccentric. Kind of like me. Well, that's how I perceive myself anyway. It could be daily, weekly, or never get off the ground. Who knows.
Back to cooking and baking. I get a bit distracted. Quite easily. Quite often. This is one of several sites that I visit regularly. Although I admit to prefering one of the others more, but only because I can save to cookbooks, menus, and I can print off a shopping list all on the same site. Awesome!
My favorite button is filled with cooking blogs. I love reading what people write about food. I'm a foodie. A somewhat picky foodie. But a foodie nonetheless.
Influencias de Cocina
I'm not sure who influenced my cooking. My mom is a fantastic cook, but growing up we knew we'd have this and this and this each week. She rarely tried anything new, which I totally blame on my slight new food aversion. I find myself doing the same thing, but with new recipes all the time. Since cooking for my guinea pig, I haven't made the same thing twice. We both like trying new things and one of these days, I'm going to branch out from my beef, pork, chicken. Probably when we're married and I'm cooking five or six days a week. Instead of just three or four.
I do want to learn how to make my mom's sugar cookies. Oh, my heavens! They're soft and fluffy and white. It's just not a fall/winter holiday without them. We actually threatened to boycott Christmas a couple years ago when she said she wasn't going to make them because no one ever ate them. They never stay around an entire day. It's a cookie that you can eat and never get sick of.

- 18 de Noviembre de 2010That would be awesome. If I have to handwrite lists, it's just on scraps of paper and I usually end up losing them. Terrible!
