I have not always been the best cook. It was "what I could make out of a box" type of cooking. When I got married in 2004 it was that way for about 2 years then my daughter was born in 06 and I wanted to make her food at home instead of the bottled. I started to realize that I dont know what some of these things are in food, and a lot of them had paratheses explaining what the ingrediant is. I felt gross. I hated that the food people had to explain their food ingrediants. So, we went to a healthier boxed food, like healthy chioces-hahaha, I did not realize the sodium level until I filled in at a kidney clinic, which made me overlook the sodium in food. My second was born 2 years ago and that was it, he is allergic to food dyes and bleached sugar and bleached flour. Processed foods gave him insomnia. I went to homemade food. At first I thought that it would be time consuming and annoying, but it takes just as much time, maybe a little more, then boxed process foods. Yesterday I made a homemade biscuits with a sausage gravy. The only thing that I did not make from scratch was the sausage. However, the sausage was organic and fresh. I find that organic tastes great and homemade is better than anything that comes from a box. I have also noticed in the time that I have converted to healthy homemade cooking, we are all much healthier and I have been at a steady weight, I was heavier 6 years ago then I am today, (like 20lbs!) and in that time I have had two kids.
