Influencias de Cocina
#1 Strongest influence for me, I would have to say with out a doubt would have been my mother. She was such an amazing cook. For her cooking was not just making something to eat to fill the empty void. For my mother cooking was her life as well as her most favorite thing in the world. Some people knit, others like to shop, but for my mother it was her passion. Funny thing, I cannot recall anything that she had made, not ever, that did not taste wonderful. She was always collecting cookbooks from here and there. Not to mention all the recipes from friends and relatives. Even when her health was failing and she did not have the strength, my father would do the work while she coached him along. Although when she passed away in 2002, my father did the unthinkable. He gave away all my mothers recipe books that she had carefully saved and condensed down to the best of the best. Of course I was beside myself. He then asked me for my OK in his decision to give them all away. I then paused for a couple of seconds and replied," sure! why not!, but would it have made any difference if I would have said no?". I can still remember quite clearly growing up in the little corner house that always had the most delicious and wonderful smells coming from the kitchen.... P.S. I was able to track down a couple of her old recipes that I will post very soon on CookEatShare.com PEACE GOD BLESS
