Acerca de mí
I am a busy mother of three - soon to be four. I worked for the last 17 years in a high pressure job/industry (but aren't they all?!) and recently took some time off from work to focus on family and other pleasurable pursuits. I had just started to renew my passion and love of cooking when I realized kid number four was on the way. While I may need to detour away from the more complicated sauces for a while, I am optimistic that I can "get back to my roots" of cooking simple, whole foods that appeal to people of all ages and tastes (i.e., our family). I even planted an herb garden this past month - and trust me - I never thought that would happen! :)
Influencias de Cocina
My mom went back to school when I was 12 years old so I inherited the job of "cook" for our family meals many nights of the week. Even though my repertoire was limited, and our resources were few (let's face it, Florida has great citrus but is not known for much else), I learned at a young age how rewarding and therapeutic it can be to cook a meal to share with others. Even though I took some major breaks from cooking (lived in Chicago and NYC for several years as a young single), I offset the lack of kitchen utensils by dining out almost every night at wonderful (and often cheap) neighborhood bistros in these cities. I feel that these culinary experiences gave me some appreciation of good food, so that when I finally moved to the fabulous Bay Area, I was once again ready to begin cooking for my new and growing family. It seems almost wasteful not to take advantage of the fabulous produce and meat/herb/wine offerings that this area has to offer!
