I am not so much as a cook but a pastry chef. I went to culinary school and got my degree in Baking and Pastry. Though I have watched and learned a tremendous amount from my family on a lot of Italian delights, I'm always learning. I've loved baking since I was little (along with my passion for dogs and baseball), even more so now that I'm an adult, because I feel that connection to my loved ones I've lost. OK....now I'm tearing up so enough about that.
I hated math and vowed that there is no way I'd ever use it in my adult life. (duh!) To my dismay, I if comes full circle. But I like baking because it's not a pinch of this or that, it's more precise. I need that. LOL
I enjoy working with fondant and gum paste and find it very relaxing especially when I'm up early, molding little flowers or designs with stained fingers and my Italian music in the background. All is quiet for a few hours until my teenage daughter wakes up wanting something and my two dogs are begging for more walks and/or attention.
All in all, my number 1 importance is my daughter. But my passions are baking, dogs, baseball and dancing! I love love dancing. Use to be in a dance troop when I was younger and had a blast. Still dance (at least try) and occasionally play on the DDR. (that's "dance dance revolution" to those who not familiar). Love it.
So now I teach swimming at a high school (I was on the team in HS) and certify our faculty and staff in CPR. I love that job. But I do my baking on the side, in hopes to one day to own a little coffee cafe and serve petite desserts.
OK.....enough about me!!!...........I must bake something!!!

Gale Gand....Omg...she is so nice and not arrogant. She came to our high school and took time to talk with me personally. Signed a couple books too.
