My husband and I both love to garden and also love home cooked meals. Subsequently much of our free time is consumed with food preparation and preservation. We also continually seek new recipes to add to our current meals. We get excited for the fall harvest when the weather cools so we can once again begin to make soups and stews (our winter staple) which we eat until it warms again in the late spring.

My garden greatly influences the recipes I will try and store for my personal collection. When the zucchinis arrive en masse I am preparing cakes, breads, sauces, salads etc. until the cool arrives and plants no longer flowers. Each year my husband and I plant tomatoes, carrots, beans, squash, parsnips to name a few and various herbs. All of which we pickle, can, sauce, turn into salsa and you name it for safe fresh storage through-out the winter months. Nothing beats opening a jar pf salsa and tasting summer all over again in the dead of Winter - which Vermont has in abundance.
