I come from a family that loves food, and of course eating. I am more of a cooker than a baker; cooking is an art that welcomes creativity (and leftovers), while baking is a science that requires more precision than I have.
I love all types of foods, but my favorites cuisines are Italian (of course), Mexican, Greek, Indian, Thai, and Japanese. Penzey's Spices (St. Paul, MN) are the greatest, and they help me create some of my favorite dishes.
I am a busy working mom, who strives to use quality ingredients and provide healthy options for my family. The Crockpot is one of my best friends. I dabble in organics and buy local as much as possible, but sometimes its hard to commit on our budget.

My mom & dad are terrific cooks, and when I was growing up they exposed us kids to ingredients and recipes from all over the world. My siblings and I all love cooking to this day, and we each have our specialties. When we get together for dinner or the holidays we each bring something, which always makes for an amazing feast.
I received the best compliment last year when my mother told me that my lasagna was better than hers. I have perfected the recipe over the years by making "get-well" lasagnas for friends who have been ill or just had a baby. They now request it, even if they feel just fine.
