Meet the cook!
My name is Monica and welcome to Sweetbites. Don't let the name fool you, recipes are sweet as well as savory. I call it Sweetbites because every bite of food when is delicious it ends up being a "sweet" bite.
I started blogging back in 2005 and have spent all this time writing incoherent and inappropriate ramblings about past dating, the “present” relationship, travels, everyday stuff and my state of mind in my personal blog.
I decided to start a food blog and separted the cooking post from my personal blog and once I enter into the Internet kitchen, I found spots like this to collaborate and share my love/passion for cooking with the world..
You can thank my Italian ancestors for that.
I come from a long line of really good cooks and was introduced to cooking by my maternal “nonna” (grandmother), and my mother, who is a tremendous cook . I thought about going to culinary school when I was young, broke and full of dreams - I decided to use my small earnings to travel instead.
I was born (and grew up) in South America, lived in Europe and now the US. Being expose to so many cultures has brought different characteristic to my cooking, mixing up my childhood favorites with my ever growing palate of today.
