When I was visiting family in Ca. we decided to take a trip to San Francisco. Really a delightful trip. On the way home, we stopped at this pumpkin stand and I told the girl I wanted a cooking pumpkin and she stated I wanted a "New Zealand Blue" pumpkin. It was the best for cooking.
So I purchased one and took it home to my sister's home and we made the best pumpkin pie.
I live in Ohio and I have not been able to purchase one. Did not save the seeds to try to grow one here. Anyhow, you want a good pumpkin pie, you have to have a pie pumpkin. The best.
Not to mention, cheaper than purchased cans of pumpkin. But good in a pinch, that's all.
