Mi Amore...Mi Amor...Mon Amour
No matter how you say "my love," Valentine's Day is upon us once again. The holiday is observed on February 14th each year and it's celebrated in many countries around the world.
Valentine's Day is associated with romantic love and emphasizes the tradition of courting. It involves lovers expressing their love for each other by presenting flowers, offering confectionery and sending greeting cards; better known as valentines.
In the Great Lakes region and parts of the Northeast United States we celebrate Sweetest Day. This holiday is celebrated on the third Saturday in October each year.
Sweetest Day is celebrated like Valentine's Day but we incorporate family and friends into it. It is similar to what is called the "Sadie Hawkin's Dance," it is the time of year when we turn the tables on gentleman by having the ladies shower men with gifts and sweets.
