A tip for Cabbage Rolls

Jayne Aston
Jayne Aston 02 de Diciembre de 2010

I used to boil my cabbage to make my cabbage rolls. I would end up with a big mess, a smelly house and burned fingers.
Now I bring home my fresh cabbage, bag it (air tight if possible) and thaw it out the day before I want to make the cabbage rolls.
The leaves are soft and easy to manage and NO BURNED FINGERS!

Yes thats a great tip been doing that for years now, just amazing how much time and no smell in the house...your right no burned fingers.... It is really helpful to make the cabbage in a casserole style to instead of rolling individually. Just layer it with the same ingredients bake in the oven till everything is cooked...amazing how quick and easy it is! thanks for posting this everyone will love that tip for sure! Happy Holidays and appreciate your input for us to share! Great job!

Hi Jayne...I don't make cabbage rolls (though I might try now)! Did you mean to say that you freeze the cabbage. I see that you thaw it out, which makes me think maybe you freeze it after you bring it home?

Unstuffed Cajun Cabbage rolls are delicious

Here is a link to Unstuffed Cabbage rolls.

I make mine using cabbage, and ground meat, and make a creole sauce for it. It ends up tasting like cabbage and ground meat with Salsa in it = delicious.

For the sauce follow the sauce recipe in Creole chicken or Shrimp creole.
