.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESpanish-Style%20Tuna%20Ni%C3%A7oise%20Salad%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20is%20not%20a%20salad%20for%20the%20faint%20of%20heart.%20%20This%20is%20a%20Serious%20Salad,%20one%20that%20requires%20a%20willingness%20to%20eat%20quite%20a%20bit%20of%20fish%20and%20vegetables%20in%20one%20sitting,%20all%20while%20allowing%20your%20mouth%20to%20be%20assaulted%20by%20several%20textures%20and%20flavors%20in%20every%20bite.%20%20When%20I%20first%20spotted%20this%20in%20The%20Barcelona%20Cookbook%20(shocking,%20I%20know)%20I%20was%20looking%20for%20a%20light%20dinner%20option%20to%20serve%20Michael%E2%80%99s%20family%20after%20our%20day%20of%20walking%20around%20the%20city%20and%20noshing%20at%20Katz%E2%80%99s,%20but%20it%20was%20ultimately%20never%20made%20because%20our%20lunch%20there%20was%20so%20late%20and%20no%20one%20had%20any%20appetite.%20%20So%20we%20saved%20it%20for%20the%20next%20day%20as%20a%20bit%20of%20an%20antidote%20to%20the%20indulgences%20from%20the%20beginning%20of%20the%20week,%20and%20much%20like%20the%20other%20dishes%20from%20the%20cookbook%20that%20called%20for%20tinned%20fish,%20this%20was%20extremely%20flavorful%20all%20the%20while%20not%20feeling%20too%20heavy.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20key%20to%20all%20of%20these%20dishes%20is%20getting%20high-quality%20canned%20fish%20that%E2%80%99s%20packed%20in%20olive%20oil%E2%80%93in%20your%20supermarket%20this%20may%20be%20in%20the%20canned%20fish%20section,%20but%20I%E2%80%99d%20also%20check%20out%20the%20international%20department%20in%20the%20Spanish%20and/or%20Italian%20sections%20too.%20%20Unlike%20many%20traditional%20tuna%20salads%20that%20call%20for%20bland,%20packed-in-water%20albacore%20that%E2%80%99s%20then%20drenched%20in%20mayonnaise%20to%20mask%20the%20fishiness%20(which%20is%20usually%20unsuccessful%20anyway),%20the%20flavor%20of%20the%20fish%20is%20celebrated%20here%20and%20the%20fat%20content%20comes%20from%20the%20avocado,%20the%20oil%20the%20fish%20is%20packed%20in%20and%20just%20a%20drizzle%20of%20homemade%20aioli.%20%20As%20a%20normally%20mayo-averse%20person%20myself,%20this%20substitution%20is%20a%20welcome%20change.%20%20The%20final%20product%20is%20also%20not%20nearly%20as%20%E2%80%9Cfishy%E2%80%9D%20smelling%20as%20its%20mayo-heavy%20counterparts,%20either.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThat%20said,%20it%20will%20fill%20you%20up%E2%80%93don%E2%80%99t%20serve%20much%20else%20with%20this%20save%20for%20a%20light%20soup%20(I%20like%20stracciatella)%20or%20a%20small%20loaf%20of%20bread.%20%20Trust%20me%E2%80%93you%20won%E2%80%99t%20feel%20deprived.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESpanish-Style%20Tuna%20Ni%C3%A7oise%20Salad%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAdapted%20from%20The%20Barcelona%20Cookbook%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EServes%202%20as%20a%20light%20dinner%20with%20leftovers,%20or%204%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ETo%20make%20the%20aioli:%20%20in%20a%20food%20processor%20or%20blender,%20add%20one%20jumbo%20egg%20yolk%20and%201-2%20cloves%20garlic;%20start%20to%20process/blend%20and%20drizzle%20olive%20oil%20into%20the%20container%20until%20everything%20combines%20and%20is%20smooth;%20set%20aside.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAdd%20tuna%20to%20a%20mixing%20bowl%20and%20flake%20with%20a%20fork,%20and%20add%20peppers,%20scallions,%20parsley,%20eggs,%20avocado,%20lemon%20zest%20and%20juice%20to%20the%20bowl%E2%80%93if%20you%20can,%20try%20to%20let%20it%20sit%20for%20an%20hour%20in%20the%20refrigerator%20to%20let%20the%20flavors%20meld.%20Arrange%20on%20a%20platter%20that%20has%20been%20lined%20with%20the%20arugula,%20garnish%20with%20the%20olives%20and%20a%20drizzle%20of%20the%20aioli%20and%20serve.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ENote:%20%20we%20served%20this%20family-style%20because%20it%20was%20easier,%20but%20if%20you%E2%80%99d%20like%20something%20a%20little%20more%20dignified,%20follow%20the%20original%20recipe%E2%80%99s%20serving%20instructions%20of%20using%20a%204-inch%20ring%20mold%20to%20form%20a%20pretty%20serving%20on%20separate%20plates%20that%20have%20been%20festooned%20with%20the%20arugula.%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
