%20that%20is%20blooming%20so%20well.%20Its%20supposed%20to%20like%20drier%20conditions,%20so%20I'm%20a%20little%20surprised.%20Its%20mingling%20with%20a%20no%20name%20rose%20and%20Rouge%20Cardinal%20clematis%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhile%20I%20don't%20yet%20have%20any%20pink%20or%20purple%20daylilies%20blooming%20I%20do%20have%20some%20yellow%20and%20orange.%20Including%20this%20one.%20I%20am%20not%20a%20huge%20fan%20of%20orange%20anything%20(colorwise)%20but%20love%20how%20it%20looks%20with%20purple%20or%20bright%20pink,%20so%20this%20clematis%20makes%20a%20good%20neighbor.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOn%20down%20the%20fence%20is%20another%20purple%20clematis%20that%20is%20just%20starting%20to%20bloom%20in%20earnest,%20Etoile%20Violette%20which%20is%20definitely%20one%20of%20my%20favorite.%20It%20has%20a%20smaller%20flower%20but%20makes%20up%20for%20it%20by%20covering%20the%20vines%20in%20a%20mass%20of%20starlike%20violet%20purple%20blooms.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAlso%20starting%20to%20bloom%20is%20this%20little%20favorite%20hardy%20geranium.%20Its%20the%20prettiest%20shade%20of%20pink%20and%20almost%20the%20same%20color%20as%20the%20pink%20spirea%20that%20is%20on%20the%20verge%20of%20opening%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAnd%20more%20daylilies,%20a%20fragrant%20variety%20peeking%20out%20of%20the%20lilac.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESome%20store%20bought%20color,%20in%20the%20bed%20under%20the%20dogwood...an%20almost%20fluorescent%20New%20Guinea%20impatiens%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20dogwood%20itself%20is%20still%20thrilling%20me!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWell%20even%20the%20fairies%20have%20something%20new%20blooming,%20two%20tiny%20%22hydrangeas%22%20to%20flank%20their%20new%20doorway.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAnd%20in%20my%20garden%20there%20is%20always%20some%20sunshine%20to%20be%20had%20even%20if%20its%20make%20believe%20:-)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESo%20in%20addition%20to%20all%20of%20the%20actual%20flowers%20I%20DO%20even%20have%20something%20in%20my%20veggie%20garden%20to%20harvest%20and%20its%20probably%20thanks%20to%20the%20rain%20and%20coolness!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20planted%20escarole%20this%20year%20for%20the%20first%20time%20and%20the%20plants%20are%20big%20enough%20to%20harvest%20some%20of%20the%20leaves,%20so%20I%20picked%20a%20few%20to%20make%20something%20for%20lunch.%20Plus%20a%20sprig%20or%20two%20of%20parsley%20from%20some%20plants%20I%20put%20in%20the%20ground%20a%20couple%20of%20months%20ago.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20actually%20had%20never%20eaten%20escarole%20until%20today%20either!%20So%20had%20to%20look%20around%20for%20a%20recipe%20idea.%20I%20saw%20a%20lot%20of%20Italian%20dishes%20made%20with%20escarole%20and%20white%20beans%20and%20decided%20to%20go%20this%20route%20in%20the%20form%20of%20a%20hearty%20salad.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAdapted%20from%20this%20recipe%20on%20the%20Cooking%20Light%20website.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EHeat%20a%20large%20nonstick%20skillet%20over%20medium-high%20heat.%20Add%20escarole%20to%20pan%20with%20a%20tiny%20bit%20of%20water;%20cook%203%20minutes%20or%20until%20wilted,%20turning%20frequently.%20(I%20actually%20just%20covered%20the%20pan%20and%20it%20was%20cooked%20very%20quickly).%20Add%20bacon,%20garlic,%20corn%20and%20a%20small%20amount%20of%20olive%20oil%20to%20pan;%20cook%202-3%20minutes%20or%20until%20corn%20begins%20to%20slightly%20brown%20zucchini%20is%20tender.%20Combine%20escarole/corn%20mixture,%20parsley,%20and%20beans%20in%20a%20large%20bowl.%20Add%20vinegar%20and%20remaining%20ingredients;%20toss%20well%20to%20coat.%20Serve%20immediately%20(but%20I%20have%20a%20feeling%20this%20wouldn't%20be%20half%20bad%20the%20next%20day).%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
