,%20I%20hope%20I%20am%20still%20not%20too%20late%20to%20wish%20all%20my%20Chinese%20readers%20and%20friends%20a%20very%20happy%20and%20prosperous%20Chinese%20New%20Year%20%E2%80%9C%20Gong%20Xi%20Fa%20Cai%E2%80%9D.%20As%20this%20year%20is%20the%20year%20of%20%E2%80%9CGoat%E2%80%9D,%20I%20wish%20all%20of%20you%20everything%20very%20%E2%80%9Cgoat%E2%80%9D%20(%20good!%20)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%20the%20beginning%20of%20the%20year,%20I%20had%20many%20plans%20in%20attempting%20to%20make%20different%20types%20of%20Chinese%20New%20Year%20cookies%20as%20New%20Year%20gifts%20to%20friends%20and%20relatives.%20However,%20due%20to%20recent%20hectic%20work%20schedules%20all%20those%20plans%20ended%20down%20the%20drain.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EHowever,%20since%20I%20started%20this%20blog,%20it%20has%20been%20customary%20for%20me%20to%20introduce%20at%20least%20a%20Chinese%20New%20Year%20dish%20or%20bakery%20to%20cheer%20up%20the%20new%20year%20atmosphere.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFollowing%20are%20the%203%20types%20of%20common%20snack%20food%20serve%20during%20CNY,%20I%20managed%20to%20make%20out%20from%20my%20tight%20schedules.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAlmond%20flakes%20crisps%20%E6%9D%8F%E4%BB%81%E7%89%87%E8%84%86%E9%A5%BC,%20sesame%20crisps%20%E8%8A%9D%E9%BA%BB%E8%84%86%E9%A5%BC%20and%20crispy%20filament%20crab%20sticks%20that%20I%20made%20in%20the%20very%20last%20weekend%20before%20rushing%20back%20to%20celebrate%20CNY%20with%20my%20family%20in%20Penang.%20Due%20to%20the%20time%20constraint,%20I%20didn%E2%80%99t%20manage%20to%20make%20them%20in%20large%20quantity%20but%20only%204%20small%20containers%20for%20my%20sister-in-laws%20and%20the%20occasion%20my%20high%20school%20reunion%20gathering.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20was%20glad%20these%20finger%20foods%20received%20good%20comments.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20easiest%20was%20the%20making%20of%20crispy%20filament%20crab%20sticks,%20by%20just%20drying%20up%20the%20filament%20crab%20sticks%20under%20the%20sun%20for%201-2%20hours%20and%20unrolled%20into%20strips%20and%20deep%20fried%20in%20medium%20heat%20oil.%20Once%20the%20oil%20was%20heated%20up%20and%20bubbling,%20the%20crab%20meats%20were%20added%20and%20heat%20reduced%20to%20brown%20until%20crispy.%20No%20seasoning%20needed%20as%20the%20crab%20sticks%20were%20already%20flavoured.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFor%20the%20Almond%20and%20Sesame%20crisps,%20these%20were%20basically%20the%20same%20cookies,%20with%20different%20spread%20sprinkled%20over%20the%20top%20of%20the%20cookies.%20This%20round%20I%20used%20almond%20flakes%20and%20white%20sesame%20seeds.%20You%20can%20opt%20to%20use%20pistachio,%20sunflower%20seeds,%20black%20sesame%20too.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EJust%20a%20note%20to%20highlight,%20to%20make%20really%20crispy%20almond%20crisps,%20do%20make%20sure%20to%20spread%20the%20batter%20thinly.%20Also%20must%20make%20sure%20you%20use%20parchment%20paper%20or%20silicon%20or%20fiberglass%20baking%20sheet%20for%20ease%20of%20removal%20of%20crisps%20once%20it%20comes%20out%20from%20oven%20or%20else%20you%20will%20have%20difficulty%20removing%20the%20cookies%20from%20the%20baking%20paper.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EInitially,%20I%20had%20a%20failed%20attempt%20when%20I%20used%20normal%20baking%20paper%20resulting%20in%20my%20first%20batch%20of%20sesame%20crisps%20being%20stuck%20and%20cannot%20be%20removed%20from%20the%20baking%20paper.%20I%20had%20to%20carefully%20remove%20the%20crisps%20with%20a%20small%20knife%20by%20scraping%20them%20off%20one%20by%20one%20from%20the%20baking%20paper.%20At%20the%20end%20many%20crisps%20were%20cracked%20in%20the%20process.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFor%20the%20second%20batch%20I%20bought%20a%20fiberglass%20baking%20sheet%20and%20I%20was%20relieved%20to%20be%20able%20to%20remove%20all%20the%20crisps%20nicely%20in%20one%20piece.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBelieve%20it%20or%20not,%20these%20egg%20whites%20crisps%20are%20unbelievable%20additive,%20just%20one%20bite%20and%20I%20think%20you'll%20agree!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPreheat%20oven%20at%20160%20degree%20Celsius%20for%2015%20minutes.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBeat%20egg%20white%20and%20icing%20sugar%20till%20fluffy%20and%20soft%20peak.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAdd%20melted%20butter%20and%20flour%20use%20a%20spatula%20to%20gently%20combine%20well.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ELine%20a%20baking%20tray%20with%20parchment%20paper%20or%20fiberglass%20baking%20sheet.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESpoon%20batter%20(1tsp)%20onto%20the%20lined%20tray%20and%20use%20the%20back%20of%20spoon%20to%20spread%20the%20batter%20to%20round%20thin%20and%20even%20layer.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESprinkle%20with%20a%20little%20almond%20flakes%20or%20Sesame%20or%20chopped%20pistachio.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBake%20at%20pre-heated%20oven%20at%20160C%20for%2012-15mins%20or%20until%20all%20evenly%20golden%20brown.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ERemove%20the%20crisps%20from%20the%20tray%20once%20out%20of%20the%20oven%20while%20still%20hot.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EStore%20in%20air-tight%20container%20once%20cool.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E%E6%9D%8F%E4%BB%81%E7%89%87%E8%84%86%E9%A5%BC%20%20%20%E6%9D%90%E6%96%99:%20%20%E7%83%A4%E7%9B%A4%E5%B8%83%20(%E9%8B%AA%E5%BA%95%E7%94%A8.%E7%83%A4%E5%
