%20%20I%20was%20able%20to%20bask%20in%20the%20warmth%20of%20the%20sun,%20with%20my%20flip%20flops%20on,%20while%20admiring%20my%20first%20flower%20of%20the%20Spring.%20%20When%20the%20crocuses%20burst%20forth%20from%20the%20ground%20I%20know%20that%20the%20temperatures%20are%20slowly%20rising.%20%20My%20garden%20has%20awakened%20%20and%20my%20unwavering%20perennials%20know%20exactly%20when%20to%20bloom.%20%20To%20me,%20it%20is%20the%20purest%20form%20of%20%22faith%22,%20to%20plant%20a%20seed%20or%20bulb%20and%20hope%20it%20doesn't%20die%20with%20all%20the%20struggles%20mother%20nature%20hurls%20toward%20them.%20%20These%20hardy%20plants%20never%20disappoint.%20%20To%20me,%20it's%20like%20magic%20every%20year%20when%20they%20return!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%20this%20part%20of%20the%20country%20we%20don't%20plant%20until%20the%20snow%20has%20melted%20off%20of%20the%20great%20Peavine%20Mountain.%20(a%20large%20hill%20in%20Northwest%20Reno)%20%20Even%20then%20the%20weather%20can%20be%20fickle%20and%20send%20a%20deadly%20frost.%20%20%20There%20are%20certain%20hardy%20veggies%20that%20I%20was%20tempted%20to%20buy%20at%20the%20home%20improvement%20store%20today%20that%20thrive%20in%20frosty%20weather,%20such%20as%20cabbage,%20spinach,%20lettuce,%20etc.%20%20But,%20for%20a%20little%20while%20longer%20I'm%20content%20to%20stay%20inside%20and%20create%20more%20%22firsts%22%20in%20the%20kitchen.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOne%20of%20my%20%22firsts%22%20was%20homemade%20flour%20tortillas.%20%20I'm%20embarrassed%20to%20say%20I've%20always%20bought%20them%20ready%20made.%20%20%20Who%20knew%20they%20were%20so%20easy!%20%20And%20why%20haven't%20I%20made%20these%20before?%20%20I%20guess%20I%20had%20visions%20of%20flour%20flying%20everywhere%20and%20it%20would%20be%20a%20kitchen%20cleanup%20nightmare!%20%20Not%20at%20all!%20%20They%20are%20relatively%20simple%20and%20I%20will%20prepare%20these%20again,%20they%20were%20so%20good!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPlace%20all%20the%20ingredients%20in%20a%20bowl%20except%20water.%20%20Work%20with%20a%20fork%20until%20it%20looks%20like%20coarse%20crumbs,%20then%20add%20the%20water.%20%20Stir%20until%20just%20mixed.%20%20Put%20on%20a%20lightly%20floured%20board%20and%20knead%20to%20form%20a%20smooth%20dough.%20%20Cover%20with%20a%20cloth%20and%20set%20aside%20for%2030%20minutes.%20%20Divide%20the%20dough%20into%2012%20portions.%20%20Roll%20each%20one%20into%20a%20circle.%20%20In%20a%20skillet%20cook%20each%20tortilla%20on%20a%20medium-high%20heat%20for%20about%202%20minutes%20on%20each%20side.%20%20They%20should%20be%20browned%20and%20puffed.%20%20%20%20Great%20by%20themselves%20but%20better%20with%20butter.%20%20Of%20course!%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
