%20one%20of%20the%20only%20bright%20spots%20is%20knowing%20we%20are%20sitting%20down%20to%20a%20warm%20bowl%20of%20soup%20for%20supper.%20And%20or%20the%20cook%20of%20the%20family...me...that%20bright%20spot%20shines%20just%20a%20little%20brighter%20when%20I%20know%20said%20soup%20is%20coming%20from%20the%20Crock%20Pot,%20which%20has%20done%20my%20job%20all%20day%20while%20I%20did%20my%20other%20jobs!%20And%20I%20just%20feel%20like%20when%20a%20soup%20comes%20out%20of%20the%20slow%20cooker,%20the%20flavor%20is%20deeper%20and%20it%20truly%20has%20that%20%22cooked%20all%20day%22%20flavor%20without%20me%20actually%20having%20done%20so.%20And%20so,%20soups%20are%20basically%20a%20weekly%20occurrence%20at%20our%20dinner%20table%20during%20the%20winter.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20is%20another%20recipe%20from%20that%20collection%20I%20told%20you%20about%20last%20week.%20The%20set%20came%20with%20many%20soups,%20but%20this%20was%20the%20first%20I%20had%20to%20try.%20I%20had%20a%20version%20of%20this%20soup%20many%20years%20ago%20made%20by%20a%20friend%20of%20the%20family,%20and%20it%20was%20probably%20one%20of%20my%20favorite%20soups%20of%20all%20time.%20I%20distinctly%20remember%20there%20only%20being%20a%20small%20amount%20of%20that%20soup%20to%20go%20around%20(She%20was%20actually%20sharing%20leftovers%20with%20us)%20and%20my%20dad%20and%20I%20literally%20fighting%20over%20it!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAnd%20for%20those%20of%20you%20who%20read%20my%20plight%20to%20find%20barley%20on%20Facebook%20(it%20really%20was%20quite%20funny)%20here%20is%20the%20reason%20why!%20For%20those%20of%20you%20who%20didn't%20see%20that%20story,%20I%20was%20at%202%20different%20stores%20on%202%20different%20days%20before%20I%20was%20able%20to%20find%20the%20pearl%20barley%20for%20this%20recipe.%20So,%20let%20me%20help%20you%20a%20little.%20Look%20next%20to%20the%20dried%20beans%20and/or%20rice.%20If%20not%20there,%20try%20the%20baking%20aisle.%20(Both%20of%20these%20places%20were%20ones%20I%20had%20checked%20because%20I%20had%20found%20it%20there%20before)%20And%20if%20both%20of%20those%20places%20fail,%20try%20the%20soup%20aisle.%20Now,%20if%20you%20are%20like%20I%20was%20and%20after%20searching%20the%20shelves%20in%20all%20of%20these%20locations%20and%20you%20are%20pulling%20your%20hair%20out%20because%20you%20still%20can't%20find%20it,%20try%20the%20international%20foods%20aisle.%20Because%20this%20is%20where%20I%20finally%20found%20mine!%20In%20the%20%22British%22%20section!%20Which,%20by%20the%20way,%20I%20didn't%20even%20know%20existed%20until%20this%20day!%20Whew...I'm%20glad%20I%20bought%20the%201%20lb.%20bag%20because%20the%20next%20time%20I%20need%20it,%20I%20only%20have%20to%20search%20my%20pantry!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIf%20%20you%20too%20are%20a%20soup%20lover%20just%20trying%20to%20survive%20these%20winter%20days,%20put%20your%20Crock%20Pot%20to%20work%20making%20this%20delicious,%20and%20easy%20(after%20you%20find%20the%20barley)%20selection!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECombine%20all%20ingredients%20in%20slow%20cooker.%20Cook%20on%20LOW%20for%204-6%20hours.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESoup%20at%20Very%20Good%20Recipes%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPin%20It%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
