.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWeek%206's%20CSA%20produce%20was:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1%20bunch%20dill%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1%20zucchini%20and%201%20yellow%20squash%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1%20cabbage%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1%20head%20lettuce%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1%20kohlrabi%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1%20bunch%20mustard%20greens%20--%20I%20think%20these%20might%20have%20gone%20bad%20while%20I%20waited%20to%20buy%20Ritz%20crackers%20for%20a%20gratin.%20Curses!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWith%20all%20this,%20we%20made%20and%20ate%20up,%20greedily:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1.%20Blueberry%20Scones%20(CSA%20blueberries).%20For%20these,%20I%20tried%20a%20Martha%20Stewart%20recipe,%20but%20with%20orange%20zest%20instead%20of%20lemon.%20I%20only%20had%20medium%20eggs%20in%20the%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Ehouse,%20so%20I%20used%202%201/2,%20to%20try%20to%20approximate%202%20large%20eggs.%20Don't%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Eworry%20--%20I%20didn't%20throw%20out%20that%20other%20half%20egg.%20%20Instead,%20we%20scrambled%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Eit%20(with%20some%20of%20the%20leftover%20cream%20and%20a%20couple%20more%20eggs)%20and%20ate%20it%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Ewhile%20we%20waited%20for%20the%20scones%20to%20bake.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EUltimately,%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMartha's%20recipe%20didn't%20produce%20as%20tender%20and%20moist%20a%20scone%20as%20I%20would%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Ehave%20liked,%20but%20they%20were%20perfectly%20good,%20flaky%20blueberry%20scones.%20It's%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Ejust%20that%20I%20was%20trying%20to%20recreate%20some%20incredible,%20rich%20and%20tender%20blueberry%20scones%20we%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Eate%20at%20Nick's%20parents'%20house%20over%20the%20July%204th%20holiday,%20and%20these%20were%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Enot%20them.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E2.%20%20Kohlrabi%20Slaw%20(CSA%20Kohlrabi%20and%20cilantro).%20I%20was%20really%20trying%20to%20feel%20inspired%20by%20kohlrabi%20this%20week%20--%20especially%20with%20two%20in%20the%20house%20that%20I%20didn't%20want%20going%20to%20waste.%20I%20read%20through%20the%20comments%20on%20this%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ENew%20York%20Times%20blog%20post%20about%20kohlrabi%20and%20discovered%20a%20commenter%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Eraving%20about%20a%20slaw%20made%20with%20equal%20parts%20kohlrabi%20and%20Bosc%20pear,%20plus%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Ecumin,%20cilantro%20and%20lime.%20It%20sounded%20perfect%20--%20a%20little%20unusual,%20but%20made%20of%20good%20flavors.%20Dan%20and%20I%20both%20like%20cumin.%20Well,%20we%20made%20it,%20and%20it%20tasted%20weird.%20I%20didn't%20like%20the%20cumin%20in%20it%20at%20all,%20and%20Dan%20thought%20it%20was%20merely%20okay.%20The%20next%20day,%20it%20was%20even%20worse,%20as%20the%20pear%20released%20its%20juices%20and%20turned%20everything%20slimy,%20and%20neither%20of%20us%20could%20bear%20to%20finish%20the%20leftovers.%20Boo,%20NYT%20commenter.%20Boo!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E3.%20More,%20more,%20more%20pickles%20(CSA%20cucumbers%20and%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Edill).%20Keep%20on%20picklin'!%20We%20added%20the%20dill%20flowers%20that%20came%20in%20the%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E4.%20Cabbage%20slaw%20(CSA%20cabbage%20and%20carrots%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Eand%20cilantro).%20Dan's%20a%20bigger%20fan%20of%20coleslaw%20than%20I%20am,%20but%20even%20I%20enjoyed%20it.%20And%20the%20baby%20beat%20us%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Eboth%20on%20consumption%20of%20this%20particular%20batch.%20It%20was%20that%20good.%20What%20do%20you%20like%20to%20do%20with%20cabbage?%20I'd%20love%20some%20non-slaw%20ideas%20(beyond%20soup%20and%20cabbage%20rolls).%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E5.%20Bacon%20salad%20(CSA%20lettuce).%20Homemade%20croutons,%20avocado,%20tomato,%20onion%20ended%20up%20in%20the%20bowl,%20too.%20Blue%20cheese%20dressing%20finished%20it%20off%20well.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E6.%20Squash%20quesadillas%20(CSA%20squash).%20This%20week's%20summer%20squash%20was%20sauteed%20with%20onions,%20and%20the%20quesadillas%20were%20filled%20with%20refried%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Eblack%20beans,%20tomato%20and%20raw%20onion,%20cheddar%20cheese,%20avocado,%20and%20hot%20sauce.%20Delicious!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E7.%20Broccoli%20and%20cheese%20soup%20(CSA%20broccoli).%20Dan%20said%20he%20looked%20at%20the%20pictures%20in%20a%20Pioneer%20Woman%20post%20before%20making%20this%20soup,%20but%20he%20never%20actually%20made%20it%20to%20the%20words%20of%20her%20recipe,%20so%20he%20clearly%20didn't%20follow%20it%20exactly.%20He%20chose%20to%20partially%20blend%20it%20with%20the%20immersion%20blender,%20so%20it%20was%20chunky%20rather%20than%20smooth.%20This%20soup%20was%20a%20great%20way%20to%20use%20up%20three%20heads%20of%20broccoli%20--%20the%20finished%20product%20featured%20big%20cheese%20flavor%20and%20only%20a%20slight%20broccoli%20stinkiness.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E8.%20I%20had%20thought%20about%20making%20homemade%20blueberry%20doughnuts%20with%20the%20blueberries%20left%20at%20the%20end%20of%20this%20week,%20but%20I%20couldn't%20find%20a%20recipe%20online%20that%20looked%20just%20right.%20I%20thought%20I%20was%20settling%20when%20I%20happened%20upon%20one%20for%20Blueberry%20%22doughnut%20muffins%22%20double-dipped%20in%20lemon%20glaze%20(using%20CSA%20blueberry),%20but%20I%20think%20that%20it%20was%20actually%20the%20superior%20choice.%20Here's%20the%20recipe%20for%20these%20muffins;%20you%20should%20make%20them.%20They%20are%20remarkably%20tender%20and%20the%20lemon%20glaze%20(I%20used%20a%20tablespoon%20lemon%20juice%20instead%20of%20the%20water)%20was%20extra-tart,%20just%20the%20way%20I%20like%20my%20lemon%20glazes.%20What%20a%20treat!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECurrent%20Leftovers:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E2%20cucumbers,%20waiting%20to%20get%20pickled.%20Not%20too%20shabby!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ELost,%20lost,%20lost%20(gone%20bad%20and%20tossed%20into%20the%20trash%20during%20week%206):%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1%20bunch%20mustard%20greens%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI'm%20happy%20with%20how%20this%20week%20went.%20Let%20us%20not%20weep%20for%20the%20mustard%20greens%20lost,%20but%20rejoice%20for%20all%20the%20produce%20found.%20And%20let%20us%20welcome%20week%207%20with%20open%20arms.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhat's%20cooking%20at%20your%20house?%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
