"Almond Joy" Macaroons

A tweaked recipe from Hershey's for coconut and chocolate lovers.

Ingredientes

  • 1 package coconut flakes (10 oz.)
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 3 egg whites
  • 1 egg beaten
  • 1 tsp. almond or vanilla extract
  • 3 tbs. toasted, chopped almonds
  • 1 cup your favorite chocolate candy (I like Heshey's Special Dark), chopped, or use chocolate chips
  • optional: canned chocolate frosting, or Nutella

Direcciones

  1. Heat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Beat egg whites and egg together, add extract, flour, sugar, salt, and coconut, mix together.
  3. Fold in candy and nuts.
  4. Spread in greased 9x9 pan, bake about 30 minutes, or until lightly browned. Note: I line the pan with foil that overhangs for ease of removal and quick clean-up.
  5. Cover with foil and let sit 8 or more hours (important).
  6. Frost, cut into bars.
