Applesauce Bars With Caramel Frosting

Ingredientes

  • 2 1/2 c. flour
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking pwdr
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon soda
  • 3/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon grnd cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon allspice
  • 1/2 c. shortening, softened
  • 1/2 c. water
  • 1 (1 pound, 1 ounce) can applesauce
  • 1 lg. egg
  • 1/2 c. minced nuts
  • 1 c. raisins
  • 1/4 c. butter, melted
  • 1/2 c. brown sugar
  • 2 T lowfat milk
  • 1 1/2 to 1 3/4 c. sifted powdered sugar

Direcciones

  1. Sift together flour, sugar, baking pwdr, soda, salt, cinnamon, cloves and allspice. Add in shortening, water, applesauce and egg, beat with mixer on medium speed for about four min. Gently mix in nuts and raisins into batter. Pour into a greased and lightly floured jelly roll pan. Bake at 350 degrees for about 30 min. Cool. Frost with caramel frosting. Cut into 48 bars.
  2. Put together butter and brown sugar in a saucepan. Boil and stir for 1 minute or possibly till slightly thickened. Cool slightly. Add in lowfat milk and beat till smooth. Add in powdered sugar and beat to spreading consistency.
