Ingredientes

  • 1 c. Barley
  • 1/2 c. Dry Lentils Green Or possibly Red
  • 6 c. water
  • 2 med onions diced
  • 1 Tbsp. extra virgin olive oil or possibly sunflower
  • 1 Tbsp. Dry Mint Flakes or possibly parsley
  • 1/2 tsp Saffron *Note
  • 1/2 tsp grnd black pepper

Direcciones

  1. NOTE: Original recipe used 1 tsp turmeric
  2. Put everything into a pot and then bring to a gentle boil.
  3. Simmer for 1 1/4 hrs, stirring occasionally.
  4. Serve with bread and salad.
  5. Makes 8 c..
  6. Variations**
  7. Fry the onions, in the oil, before putting them in the pot. Add in 1 c. of cooked chick peas or possibly red kidney beans, a few min before serving.
  8. NOTES : This was very, very good...quick to combine.
