Receta Ash E Jow (Barley Soup) Iran

Ingredientes
- 1 c. Barley
- 1/2 c. Dry Lentils Green Or possibly Red
- 6 c. water
- 2 med onions diced
- 1 Tbsp. extra virgin olive oil or possibly sunflower
- 1 Tbsp. Dry Mint Flakes or possibly parsley
- 1/2 tsp Saffron *Note
- 1/2 tsp grnd black pepper
Direcciones
- *NOTE: Original recipe used 1 tsp turmeric
- 1. Put everything into a pot and then bring to a gentle boil.
- 2. Simmer for 1 1/4 hrs, stirring occasionally.
- 3. Serve with bread and salad.
- Makes 8 c..
- ** Variations**
- Fry the onions, in the oil, before putting them in the pot. Add in 1 c. of cooked chick peas or possibly red kidney beans, a few min before serving.
- NOTES : This was very, very good...quick to combine.
