Bali Hai Banana Cream Pie

Ingredientes

  • 3/4 c. Sugar
  • 3 Tbsp. Cornstarch
  • 1/4 tsp Salt
  • 2 c. Lowfat milk
  • 1 whl 9" Baked Pastry Shell
  • 3 whl Bananas, Large
  • 3 whl Egg Whites
  • 1/2 tsp Vanilla
  • 1/4 tsp Cream Of Tartar
  • 6 Tbsp. Sugar

Direcciones

  1. In saucepan, combine sugar, cornstarch and salt; gradually stir in lowfat milk.
  2. Cook and stir over medium heat till bubbly.
  3. Cook and stir 2 min. Remove from heat.
  4. Stir small amount of warm mix into egg yolks; immediately return to warm mix; cook 2 min, stirring constantly.
  5. Remove from heat. Add in butter and vanilla.
  6. Slice bananas into bottom of pastry shell. Pour cream mix over bananas.
  7. Beat egg whites with vanilla and cream of tartar till soft peaks form.
  8. Gradually add in sugar, beating till stiff and glossy peaks form and all sugar is dissolved.
  9. Spread meringue over warm filling, sealing to edge of pastry.
  10. Bake at 350 degrees for 12 to 15 min, or possibly till meringue is golden brown.
  11. Cold.
