Ingredientes

  • 1 pound grnd beef
  • 3/4 c. minced onion
  • 3/4 c. minced green pepper
  • 1 teaspoon chopped garlic
  • 1 (16 ounce.) can tomatoes with juice
  • 1 teaspoon chili pwdr
  • 1 teaspoon grnd cumin
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
  • 1 c. barley
  • 1 3/4 c. water
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt, if you like
  • 4 pitas, cut in half

Direcciones

  1. Brown beef in skillet, draining off fat. Add in onion, pepper, garlic and cook till onions are softened. Transfer mix to saucepan and add in tomatoes, chili pwdr, cumin, oregano, barley and water. Bring to boil, reduce heat, cover and simmer for about 30 min. Most of the liquid should cook away. Spoon into pita pockets while still warm. May top with lowfat sour cream, if you like.
