Basic Cream Pie

Ingredientes

  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 3 tbsp. cornstarch
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 1/2 c. lowfat milk
  • 3 beaten egg yolks
  • 1 tbsp. butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Direcciones

  1. Combine first 4 ingredients in double boiler. Cook till slightly thickened. Add in small amount of warm mix to egg yolks and return all to warm mix. Cook till thickened. Stir in butter and vanilla. Pour into pastry, cold.
  2. Beat egg whites to soft peaks, gradually add in sugar and cream of tartar. Beat to stiff peaks. Spread on filling. Bake at 425 degrees for 5 min till lightly browned.
  3. For chocolate, add in 2 squares unsweetened chocolate when adding lowfat milk.
  4. For bananas, add in 3 sliced bananas before pouring into pastry shell.
