.%20I%20must%20have%20a%20sweet%20tooth%20or%20something.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAnother%20sweet%20and%20awesome%20accompaniment%20to%20your%20main%20course%20is%20ambrosia,%20also%20appropriately%20known%20as%20the%20food%20of%20the%20gods.%20While%20there's%20not%20actually%20any%20granulated%20sugar%20in%20it,%20it's%20super%20sweet%20from%20all%20the%20fantastic%20fruit%20(and%20magical%20marshmallows)%20scattered%20throughout.%20In%20writing%20this%20post,%20I've%20only%20just%20found%20out%20that%20many%20recipes%20call%20for%20whipped%20topping,%20which%20would%20make%20it%20even%20more%20dessert-like,%20but%20my%20mom%20never%20did%20that%20step,%20so%20neither%20do%20I*.%20Several%20recipes%20call%20for%20maraschino%20cherries%20too,%20but%20I%20prefer%20tart,%20un-maraschino-ed%20cherries--the%20other%20ones%20always%20seem%20so%20artificial%20to%20me.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EYou%20can%20use%20sour%20cream%20or%20plain%20yogurt%20to%20moisten%20this%20dish,%20and%20I've%20tried%20both%20with%20great%20success.%20I've%20even%20used%20vanilla%20yogurt%20before,%20but%20I%20must%20admit%20that%20it%20took%20the%20sweetness%20to%20a%20level%20that%20was%20just%20a%20bit%20too%20high,%20even%20for%20me.%20It's%20very%20important%20that%20you%20drain%20the%20canned%20fruit%20extremely%20well--I%20dump%20it%20into%20a%20colander%20and%20let%20it%20sit%20for%2030%20minutes%20or%20so.%20If%20you%20don't,%20that%20liquid%20separates%20from%20everything%20else%20in%20the%20dish%20and%20makes%20the%20whole%20thing%20messy%20and%20unappealing.%20I'm%20speaking%20from%20experience%20here,%20folks.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EToss%20in%20whatever%20type%20of%20nut%20you%20like;%20my%20selection%20usually%20depends%20on%20what%20I%20have%20on%20hand.%20Walnuts%20and%20pecans%20are%20both%20excellent,%20but%20I'm%20sure%20sliced%20almonds%20would%20be%20equally%20delightful.%20The%20important%20thing%20to%20remember%20regarding%20the%20nuts%20is%20to%20hold%20off%20on%20adding%20them%20until%20you're%20ready%20to%20serve.%20They%20don't%20turn%20completely%20soggy,%20but%20they%20do%20lose%20some%20of%20their%20wonderful%20crunch%20the%20longer%20they're%20mixed%20into%20the%20dish.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThere%20are%20endless%20ways%20to%20personalize%20this%20dish,%20and%20I%20have%20a%20strong%20suspicion%20that%20it'll%20always%20turn%20out%20tasty,%20regardless%20of%20your%20combination%20of%20components.%20You%20can't%20really%20go%20wrong%20with%20something%20made%20with%20fruit,%20nuts,%20and%20a%20creamy%20sauce%20(oh,%20and%20MARSHMALLOWS).%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAmazing%20Ambrosia%20Salad%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EDirections:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECombine%20the%20marshmallows,%20oranges,%20pineapple,%20grapes,%20cherries,%20and%20coconut%20in%20a%20large%20bowl%20and%20stir%20to%20mix.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAdd%20the%20sour%20cream%20or%20yogurt%20and%20mix%20well,%20adding%20more%20if%20you%20feel%20compelled%20to%20do%20so,%20then%20cover%20the%20dish%20and%20refrigerate%20for%20at%20least%20an%20hour%20or%20two%20before%20adding%20the%20nuts%20and%20serving.%20As%20you%20might%20expect,%20this%20dish%20doesn't%20keep%20particularly%20well,%20but%20I%20don't%20think%20that%20will%20be%20a%20problem.%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
