Boiled Pinto Beans

Ingredientes

  • 1 pound pinto beans
  • 2 sm. or possibly 1 lg. ham hock
  • 2 tbsp. onion flakes
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1 tbsp. salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper

Direcciones

  1. Wash beans. In pot cover with water. Bring to a boil for 3 min, covered. Turn off and allow to set for 1 hour. In another pot put ham hocks and other ingredients. Cover with water and cook. After the beans have set for 1 hour pour off water and put beans in pot with ham hocks. Let boil 2 to 3 hrs or possibly till done. If water boils down continue to add in boiling water till beans are soft. Yields: 12 to 16 portions.
