.%20It%20has%20just%20started%20in%20my%20area,%20and%20there%20is%20a%20pickup%20every%20other%20week.%20Organic%20is%20an%20option%20as%20well.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20tried%20it%20for%20the%20first%20time.%20This%20week%20we%20'ate%20down'%20the%20produce%20on%20hand%20in%20preparation.%20We%20were%20down%20to%20part%20of%20a%20pomegranate,%20a%20roma%20tomato%20and%20a%20head%20of%20leaf%20lettuce....OK,%20and%20a%20couple%20hundred%20pounds%20of%20potatoes,%20heaps%20of%20onions,%20some%20beets,%20turnips%20and%20a%20cooler%20full%20of%20carrots...all%20of%20which%20grew%20in%20our%20garden...but%20those%20are%20stored%20in%20the%20root%20cellar%20and%20keep%20long-term.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20paid%20a%20one-time%20$3%20membership%20fee,%20so%20now%20I'm%20'in',%20hee%20hee.%20I%20purchased%20a%20conventional%20(not%20organic)%20basket%20for%20$15.%20There%20is%20also%20a%20$1.50%20'handling%20fee',%20so%20let's%20just%20call%20it%20$16.50.%20This%20is%20what%20I%20got:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFruit.%202%20Asian%20pears,%205%20'cutie'%20tangerines,%207%20bananas%20(2lb.2oz.),%206oz.%20fresh%20blackberries,%202lb.3oz.%20red%20seedless%20grapes,%208%20fuji%20apples%20(2lb.6oz.)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EVegetables.%202%20English%20cucumbers,%202%20bunches%20radishes,%201%20bunch%20spinach,%202%20large%20heads%20romaine%20lettuce,%203%20tomatoes%20(1lb.5oz.),%201%20bunch%20broccoli%20(1lb.2oz.)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EHere%20is%20my%20'basket'%20all%20spread%20out%20on%20the%20kitchen%20table:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAlso,%20Leia%20gave%20me%20two%20of%20her%20English%20cucumbers.%20She%20has%20a%20larger%20family%20and%20bought%20multiple%20baskets.%20She%20said,%20'Take%20these%20-%20I%20don't%20even%20know%20what%20they%20are...and%20I%20have%20plenty%20here%20to%20use!'%20Thanks,%20Leia!%20Maybe%20I'll%20make%20some%20cucumber%20kimchee.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOnce%20I%20got%20all%20that%20packed%20up%20and%20stuffed%20into%20the%20fridge,%20I%20ate%20a%20tangelo.%20YUM.%20Then%20I%20rounded%20up%20the%20grapes%20that%20had%20fallen%20from%20the%20stem%20(a%20handful)%20and%20had%20those%20with%20peanut%20butter%20toast...followed%20by%20a%20tangelo.%20Hubby%20reminded%20me%20of%20the%20time%20we%20were%20at%20my%20in-laws'%20for%20a%20visit%20and%20I%20ate%20so%20many%20oranges%20from%20their%20tree%20that%20I%20got%20a%20rash.%20I%20will%20stop%20the%20tangelos...for%20now.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAfter%20that%20I%20did%20the%20math.%20Is%20this%20really%20a%20good%20deal?%20Can%20I%20do%20better%20with%20sales%20and%20bargains?%20The%20answer%20is%20'sorta'.%20For%20one,%20I've%20never%20even%20had%20an%20English%20cucumber%20because%20the%20other%20kind%20costs%20less...so%20when%20I%20did%20my%20math,%20I%20used%20my%20rock%20bottom%20sale%20pricing,%20and%20subbed%20out%20the%20things%20I%20actually%20buy,%20like%20slicing%20cucumbers%20or%20navel%20oranges%20(which%20are%203lb.%20for%20$1%20this%20week%20at%20a%20local%20supermarket).%20In%20the%20end,%20the%20pricing%20came%20out%20the%20same...except%20that%20with%20Bountiful%20Baskets,%20I%20get%20things%20I%20would%20never%20get%20with%20the%20same%20money%20-%20English%20cucumbers,%20blackberries,%20Minneola%20tangelos...so%20it's%20like%20getting%20a%20free%20upgrade..at%20least%20that's%20how%20I'm%20thinking%20of%20it.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20save%20some%20time%20and%20fuel%20by%20showing%20up%20at%20one%20spot%20and%20picking%20up%20everything.%20It's%20about%204%20miles%20from%20my%20house,%20and%20there%20is%20no%20running%20around,%20no%20price%20matching,%20and%20everything%20looks%20ultra%20fresh.%20(I%20have%20heard%20that%20from%20others%20who%20have%20used%20it%20long-term%20too.)%20If%20things%20keep%20long%20enough%20for%20us%20to%20get%20them%20eaten,%20this%20will%20be%20a%20good%20thing.%20We'll%20eat%20the%20'short%20keepers'%20(grapes,%20berries,%20spinach,%20cukes,%20etc.)%20first%20to%20reduce%20potential%20spoilage.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%207am%20pickup%20time%20is%20early%20-%20I%20am%20not%20a%20morning%20person.%20You%20never%20know%20what%20you%20are%20getting,%20but%20that%20can%20be%20good%20-%20the%20blackberries%20are%20really%20tasty%20(yes,%20I%20tried%20one%20of%20them%20too!)%20but%20it's%20not%20a%20good%20deal%20unless%20we%20actually%20use%20everything%20(those%20two%20bunches%20of%20radishes%20are%20all%20on%20me%20because%20no%20one%20else%20here%20cares%20for%20them).%20I%20will%20plan%20our%20menus%20based%20on%20what%20we%20got,%20and%20we%20have%20plenty%20of%20fruit%20for%20snacking.%20I'll%20keep%20you%20posted!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOverall,%20at%20this%20moment,%20I'm%20happy%20with%20Bountiful%20Baskets.%20It%20helps%20me%20with%20my%20goals%20related%20to%20saving%20money%20and%20good%20stewardship%20of%20our%20funds,%20and%20with%20all%20the%20fresh%20fruits%20and%20vegetables%20on%20hand,%20it%20should%20be%20easy%20for%20us%20to%20make%20healthy%20food%20choices.%20Bountiful%20Baskets%20is%20in%20parts%20of%20the%20western%20United%20States%20and%20expanding,%20so%20check%20bac
