%20and%20my%20siblings%20were%20there%20for%20me%20as%20soon%20as%20I%20was%20ready%20to%20talk%20to%20them.%20%20Upon%20my%20first%20trip%20home,%20they%20threw%20me%20a%20night%20of%20gluten-free%20beer%20(well,%20for%20me),%20board%20games,%20a%20bunch%20of%20bad%20jokes%20and%20%E2%80%9Csocials%E2%80%9D%20and%20%E2%80%9Cwaterfalls%E2%80%9D,%20and%20the%20freedom%20to%20wander%20alone%20in%20my%20thoughts%20when%20I%20needed%20to.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMy%20siblings%20-%20purely%20coincidental%20that%20we%20all%20stuck%20our%20tongues%20out%20when%20told%20to%20do%20a%20silly%20pic.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESo%20when%20Lil%20Sis%20texted%20me%20the%20news,%20I%20threw%20all%20the%20beer%20I%20had%20in%20my%20fridge%20into%20a%20bag%20and%20headed%20to%20Connecticut.%20%20And%20after%20one%20or%20two%20drinks%20and%20some%20quiet%20conversation,%20I%20knew%20what%20she%20needed:%20brownies.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWe%20rummaged%20through%20hers%20and%20my%20dad%E2%80%99s%20kitchens%20and%20got%20together%20some%20basic%20ingredients%20(including%20the%20all-purpose%20gluten-free%20flour%20I%20stash%20there)%20and%20I%20went%20to%20work,%20whipping%20things%20together%20and%20giving%20her%20a%20little%20baking%20lesson%20as%20I%20went.%20%20I%20love%20brownies%20because%20of%20how%20few%20ingredients%20they%20require,%20how%20fast%20you%20can%20make%20them%20and%20how%20versatile%20they%20are%20%E2%80%93%20purely%20for%20emotional%20purposes%20we%20poured%20some%20of%20the%20dark%20Green%E2%80%99s%20Gluten-Free%20Sorghum%20beer%20I%20had%20been%20sipping,%20which%20did%20wonders%20in%20intensifying%20all%20the%20flavors%20and%20giving%20the%20brownies%20lift%20without%20and%20baking%20powder/soda.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20result?%20%20Incredibly%20moist,%20fudgy,%20dark%20cocoa%20brownies.%20Just%20as%20I%20want%20them.%20%20Easy%20to%20slice,%20packed%20with%20chocolate%20and%20with%20a%20slight%20zing%20from%20the%20beer.%20%20Incredibly%20easy%20to%20make,%20and%20from%20start%20to%20finish%20we%20had%20the%20brownies%20in%20about%20a%20half%20an%20hour.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EShe%20plopped%20a%20little%20vanilla%20ice%20cream%20on%20her%20slice%20to%20balance%20the%20chocolate.%20%20I%20love%20dark%20chocolate,%20and%20savored%20my%20sweet%20little%20piece%20(normally%20I%20never%20eat%20refined%20sugar,%20or%20much%20sugar%20in%20general,%20but%20desperate%20times%E2%80%A6).%20%20We%20sipped%20our%20drinks,%20enjoyed%20some%20telly%20and%20as%20she%20worked%20things%20through%20in%20her%20head,%20we%20talked%20about%20it.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAnd%20don%E2%80%99t%20worry,%20both%20Lil%20Sis%E2%80%99%20and%20my%20heart%20are%20doing%20just%20fine.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECheck%20out%20some%20lovely%20people%20who%20have%20made%20these!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFudgy,%20intense%20beer%20brownies%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIngredients:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EDirections:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPreheat%20oven%20to%20350%C2%B0.%20%20Grease%20a%20small%208%C3%978%20or%20so%20glass%20baking%20pan.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%20a%20small%20saucepan%20over%20low%20heat,%20melt%20butter.%20%20Slowly%20whisk%20in%20cocoa%20and%20whisk%20until%20dissolved.%20%20Then%20slowly%20whisk%20in%20beer%20(it%20will%20foam%20a%20bit)%20and%20whisk%20until%20smooth.%20%20Set%20aside%20to%20cool.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%20a%20standing%20mixer%20with%20the%20whisk%20attachment%20or%20with%20a%20hand%20mixer%20on%20medium/high%20speed%20beat%20eggs,%20brown%20sugar%20and%20white%20sugar%20together%20until%20the%20sugar%20has%20completely%20dissolved%20and%20the%20mixture%20is%20very%20smooth%20and%20creamy.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EReduce%20the%20mixer%20to%20low%20speed%20and%20slowly%20add%20the%20chocolate%20mixture%20until%20combined.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EToss%20the%20salt%20into%20the%20flour%20and%20fold%20into%20the%20chocolate%20mixture.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPour%20into%20the%20pan%20and%20bake%20for%2018-22%20minutes%20or%20until%20a%20toothpick%20inserted%20in%20the%20middle%20comes%20out%20smooth.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECool%20for%20at%20least%2015%20minutes%20(if%20you%20want%20them%20soft%20and%20fudgey)%20or%20completely%20before%20cutting.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAs%20lil%20sis%20pointed%20out,%20these%20would%20be%20great%20with%20a%20dairy/gluten-free%20ice%20cream%20or%20with%20some%20fresh%20fruit.%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
