- Put water in crock bowl and sprinkle with yeast and sugar. Let yeast rise to top. Add in flour and mix well. Let rise till double in bulk. In a cold room it can go overnight.
- Knead well and let rise double in bulk. Divide dough into 4 equal parts, roll ut each cookie style. Fold over once then again, now you have 4 quarters. Roll again to get all bubbles out. Cut in half and make 2 sausage style rolls.Crisscross like an X and braid together, Mrs. Baird's way. Let rise double in bulk. Bake at 375 degrees for 30-35 min. Makes 4 small loaves.
