%20last%20night%20that%20was%20not%20my%20idea.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20have%20been%20craving%20salad.%20Big%20salads,%20with%20lots%20of%20stuff%20in%20them,%20but%20I'm%20tired%20of%20Caesar%20Salad%20(does%20anyone%20really%20get%20tired%20of%20it?),%20Mexican%20Chef's%20Salad,%20Cobb%20Salad...the%20whole%20lot.%20I%20wanted%20something%20different.%20Then%20I%20opened%20my%20Google%20reader%20to%20this%20post%20@%20Beariatric%20and%20started%20salivating%20immediately.%20While%20I%20didn't%20use%20Tom's%20recipe,%20it%20was%20definitely%20his%20post%20that%20inspired%20me%20to%20put%20this%20salad%20together.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI've%20been%20using%20my%20son,%20Mike's,%20Buffalo%20Chicken%20Wings%20recipe%20for%20years.%20I%20think%20it%20is%20the%20best%20I've%20EVER%20eaten.%20And,%20I%20make%20an%20adaptation%20of%20Chef%20Paul%20Prudhomme's%20recipe%20for%20Blue%20Cheese%20Dressing%20from%20his%20Louisiana%20Kitchen%20cookbook.%20Mike's%20wings%20are%20flavorful%20and%20as%20spicy%20as%20you%20want%20to%20make%20them%20and%20Chef%20Paul's%20Blue%20Cheese%20is%20cool,%20but%20a%20little%20spicy%20with%20definite%20onion-y%20undertone.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFor%20this%20dish,%20I%20adapted%20Mike's%20recipe%20to%20shrimp%20and%20halved%20Chef%20Paul's%20recipe%20for%20the%20dressing.%20This%20salad%20was%20cool,%20flavorful,%20spicy%20and%20satisfying.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBuffalo%20Shrimp%20Salad%20with%20Spicy%20Blue%20Cheese%20Dressing%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPlace%20the%20greens,%20iceberg%20lettuce,%20tomato%20and%20avocado%20in%20a%20large%20salad%20bowl.%20Keep%20cool.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ETo%20Make%20the%20Buffalo%20Shrimp:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPut%20the%20shrimp%20in%20a%20bowl%20and%20sprinkle%20with%201-1/2%20tablespoons%20of%20the%20seasoning%20mix%20and%20the%20flour.%20Mix%20until%20evenly%20covered.%20Set%20aside%20while%20you%20get%20the%20sauce%20ready.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%20a%20small%20frying%20pan,%20melt%20the%20butter%20with%20the%20hot%20sauce.%20Add%20the%20remaining%20seasoning%20mix%20and%20cook%20one%20minute.%20Keep%20warm.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%20another%20pan,%20pour%20in%20enough%20oil%20so%20that%20the%20oil%20is%20about%202%20inches%20deep.%20Heat%20the%20oil%20on%20medium%20high%20until%20it%20reaches%20350%20degrees.%20Add%20the%20shrimp%20a%20few%20at%20a%20time%20(do%20not%20overcrowd)%20and%20fry%20for%20about%201%20minute%20until%20just%20done%20and%20golden%20brown.%20Remove%20from%20oil%20and%20put%20in%20frying%20pan%20with%20sauce%20to%20keep%20warm.%20Continue%20this%20process%20until%20all%20of%20your%20shrimp%20have%20been%20cooked.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhen%20all%20of%20the%20shrimp%20have%20been%20added%20to%20the%20sauce,%20dumped%20the%20shrimp%20and%20sauce%20into%20a%20bowl%20and%20mix%20well.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ETo%20serve,%20toss%20greens%20and%20lettuce%20well%20and%20pile%20on%20a%20plate.%20Top%20with%20shrimp.%20Pour%20Blue%20Cheese%20Dressing%20over%20all.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESeasoning%20Mix:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E2%20tsp%20paprika%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1/2%20to%201%20teaspoon%20cayenne%20(depending%20on%20how%20spicy%20you%20like%20it)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E3/4%20teaspoon%20white%20pepper%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1%20teaspoon%20garlic%20powder%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1%20teaspoon%20onion%20powder%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1%20teaspoon%20celery%20salt%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EUse%20a%20fork%20or%20very%20small%20whisk%20to%20thoroughly%20mix%20the%20seasonings%20together%20and%20set%20aside.%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
