%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESandwich,%20Sarnie,%20Buttie,%20Roll%20.%20.%20.%20whatever%20you%20call%20it,%20this%20has%20to%20be%20one%20of%20the%20easiest%20and%20tastiest,%20all%20round%20pleasing%20sandwiches%20to%20make.%20%20The%20Golden%20Arches%20people%20(No%20names%20here)%20have%20been%20peddling%20essentially%20what%20is%20the%20same%20thing%20for%20years%20and%20years%20.%20.%20.%20calling%20it%20a%20Filet%20O%20Fish%20.%20.%20.%20but%20call%20it%20what%20you%20like%20.%20.%20.%20it's%20a%20fish%20finger%20sandwich,%20except%20it%20has%20%20a%20square%20fish%20finger%20inside%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20decided%20a%20while%20back%20that%20if%20I%20am%20going%20to%20cook%20something%20or%20eat%20something,%20I%20am%20going%20to%20make%20sure%20that%20whatever%20%22something%22%20is%20.%20.%20.%20I'm%20going%20to%20make%20it%20the%20very%20best%20%22something%22%20that%20I%20can%20or%20want%20to%20eat!%20%20And%20that%20means%20good%20ingredients%20from%20the%20start.%20%20No%20mystery%20fish%20here%20.%20.%20.%20I%20only%20use%20100%25%20cod%20%20or%20haddock%20fish%20fillets.%20%20I%20don't%20want%20fillers,%20or%20other%20unknowns%20in%20my%20fish.%20%20I%20want%20them%20to%20be%20lightly%20breaded%20fish.%20%20That's%20all.%20%20I%20am%20not%20a%20fan%20of%20bluefish,%20or%20other%20types.%20%20I%20am%20a%20fish%20finger%20snob.%20%20I%20also%20like%20to%20use%20the%20jumbo%20fish%20fingers%20.%20.%20.%20less%20breading%20more%20fish.%20%20You%20may%20not%20get%20as%20many%20servings%20from%20a%20pack%20.%20.%20.%20but%20you%20won't%20need%20as%20many%20fingers%20either,%20because%20they're%20umm%20.%20.%20.%20bigger!!%20%20There's%20also%20less%20risk%20of%20the%20larger%20fish%20fingers%20being%20dry.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20other%20integral%20part%20of%20a%20Fish%20Finger%20Sandwich%20.%20.%20.%20is%20the%20bread.%20%20Some%20people%20opt%20for%20soft%20white%20sandwich%20bread,%20others%20go%20uber%20healthy%20and%20want%20a%20seeded%20loaf,%20or%20a%20whole%20grain%20loaf,%20or%20a%20roll%20or%20whatever.%20%20I,%20myself,%20like%20a%20nice%20chewy%20bread%20and%20so%20I%20opt%20for%20a%20fresh%20Italian%20Ciabatta%20roll.,%20and%20you%20want%20it%20to%20be%20really%20fresh%20too,%20if%20possible%20baked%20today.%20%20That%20way%20it's%20got%20a%20nice%20crust%20on%20the%20outside%20.%20.%20.%20but%20is%20soft%20and%20chewy%20inside.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAnother%20reason%20I%20like%20a%20fresh%20Ciabatta%20roll%20is%20because%20they%20have%20lots%20of%20whole%20in%20them%20.%20.%20.%20lots%20of%20little%20nooks%20and%20crannies%20for%20the%20tartar%20sauce%20to%20seep%20into.%20%20To%20me%20that%20makes%20a%20scrummy%20sarnie,%20even%20scrummier!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20like%20to%20make%20my%20own%20tartar%20sauce%20(recipe%20here)%20%20but%20you%20can%20use%20any%20good%20quality%20bottled%20tartar%20sauce.%20%20I%20bang%20the%20fish%20fingers%20into%20the%20oven%20and%20while%20they%20are%20baking%20I%20will%20make%20my%20tartar%20sauce%20and%20then%20slice%20the%20roll%20in%20half%20with%20a%20sharp%20serrated%20knife.%20%20%20Some%20people%20spread%20their%20rolls%20with%20butter.%20%20I%20don't.%20%20I%20just%20spread%20one%20half%20with%20lots%20of%20my%20homemade%20tartar%20sauce%20and%20then%20I%20scrunch%20the%20bottom%20and%20the%20top%20halves%20together%20really%20well%20so%20that%20some%20of%20the%20tartar%20sauce%20oozes%20onto%20both%20side%20and%20into%20all%20those%20lovely%20little%20holes%20.%20.%20.%20and%20then,%20if%20I'm%20feeling%20especially%20indulgent%20I%20will%20add%20a%20bit%20more.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20add%20a%20nice%20layer%20of%20fresh%20rocket%20on%20the%20bottom%20of%20the%20roll.%20%20You%20can%20use%20whatever%20lettuce%20you%20like,%20or%20no%20lettuce%20at%20all,%20but%20I%20like%20rocket.%20%20It%20has%20a%20nice%20bite%20to%20it,%20and%20it%20adds%20colour%20and%20flavour.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EYour%20fish%20fingers%20will%20be%20pretty%20much%20done%20now,%20so%20turn%20out%20the%20oven%20(meaning%20turn%20it%20off).%20%20Remove%20your%20tray%20of%20fish%20fingers%20and%20scrunch%20them%20together%20in%20groups,%20roughly%20the%20size%20of%20the%20bread%20or%20roll%20you%20are%20using,%20and%20then%20lay%20a%20nice%20processed%20cheese%20slice%20on%20top%20of%20%20each%20group.%20%20This%20is%20a%20time%20when%20you%20don't%20want%20to%20opt%20for%20a%20good%20cheddar%20or%20whatever%20.%20.%20.%20plain%20old%20processed%20cheese%20is%20the%20best%20to%20use%20here%20because%20it%20melts%20quickly%20and%20looks%20nice%20and%20what%20the%20heck,%20it%20even%20tastes%20nice.%20%20Place%20the%20tray%20back%20into%20the%20still%20warm%20oven%20for%20a%20few%20minutes%20so%20that%20the%20cheese%20just%20begins%20to%20melt.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ENow%20slide%20your%20cheese%20stacked%20fish%20fingers%20onto%20that%20rocket%20and%20sauced%20bottom%20of%20your%20roll,%20or%20bread%20slice%20or%20whatever%20and%20pop%20on%20the%20top%20slice.%20%20Give%20it%20a%20little%20smoosh%20down%20.%20.%20.%20just%20to%20compact%20it%20a%20tiny%20bit.%20%20Now%20you%20are%20ready%20to%20eat%20it%20with%20a%20nice%20gerkin%20or%20pickled%20onion%20on%20the%20side%20and%20perhaps%20a%20few%20potato%20crisps.%20%20(Potato%20Chips%20to%20you%20North%20Americans.)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ENow%20doesn't%20that%20look%20nice?%20%20Good%20enough%20to%20eat%20I'd%20say%20.%20.%20.%20but%20I'm%20going%20to%20make%20it%20that%20teensie%20weensie%20bit%20better.%20%20Call%20me%20hedonistic%20or%20whatever%20you%20like%20but%20.%20.%20.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI'm%20going%20to%20pop%20a%20few%20of%20those%20potato%20crisps%20in%20there%20right%20on%20top%20of%20those%20cheese%20slathered%20fish%20fingers%20and%20then%20I'm%20going%20to%20cut%20the%20whole%20thing%20in%20half%20.%20.%20.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EJust%20look%20at%20all%20those%20tasty%20flavours%20and%20textures%20you%20have%20going%20on%20there%20.%20.%20.%20the%20chewy%20roll,%20the%20creamy%20and%20slightly%20tart%20sauce%20.%20.%20.%20snappy%20rocket,%20%20flaky%20meaty%20fingers%20of%20fish%20.%20.%20.%20oozing%20cheese%20and%20the%20crunch%20of%20potato%20crisps%20on%20top.%20%20(I%20like%20the%20salt%20and%20malt%20vinegar%20hand%20fried%20ones%20myself.%20%20We're%20not%20talking%20too%20healthy%20here%20people.%20%20It's%20a%20fish%20finger%20sandwich!)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ENow%20that's%20what%20I%20call%20a%20perfectly%20delicious,%20scrummily%20tuck-into-able%20.%20.%20.%20Fish%20Finger%20Buttie.%20%20To%20me,%20it's%20the%20World's%20Best.%20%20You%20may%20have%20another%20idea%20of%20what%20makes%20the%20world's%20best%20.%20.%20.%20butter,%20ketchup%20.%20.%20.%20pickled%20onions,%20sliced%20tomatoes.%20%20What%20would%20make%20this%20sandwich%20YOUR%20world's%20best?%20%20I'd%20love%20to%20hear%20your%20ideas!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EGood%20Cooking%20is%20all%20about%20sharing%20and%20eating%20don't%20you%20think?%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
