Ingredientes

  • 2 c. self-rising flour
  • 2 c. self-rising white cornmeal
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp freshly-grnd black pepper
  • 1 lrg onion grated
  • 1 x jalapeno pepper (optional), seeded, and chopped
  • 2 c. buttermilk
  • 1 lrg egg Vegetable oil

Direcciones

  1. Combine first 5 ingredients; stir in onion, and if you like jalapeno pepper. Whisk together buttermilk and egg; add in to flour mix.
  2. Pour oil to a depth of 3 inches in a Dutch oven; heat to 375 degrees. Drop batter by level tablespoonfuls into oil; fry, in batches, 5 to 7 min or possibly till golden brown. Drain on paper towels.
  3. This recipe yields 5 dozen.
  4. Yield: 5 dozen
