%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAn%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Eexcellent%20way%20to%20use%20up%20leftover%20roast%20or%20grilled%20chicken.%20Remove%20the%20skin%20and%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Ebones%20and%20chop%20chicken%20finely%20with%20a%20large%20knife,%20or%20use%20cooked%20skinless,%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Eboneless%20chicken%20breasts.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E2%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Ebasil%20just%20before%20service.%20Serves%206-8.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECan%20We%20Come%20In%20and%20Laugh,%20Too?%20%E2%80%93%20Review%20by%20Martha%20A.%20Cheves,%20Author%20of%20Stir,%20Laugh,%20Repeat;%20Think%20With%20Your%20Taste%20Buds,%20A%20Book%20and%20A%20Dish%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E%E2%80%98When%20I%20was%20very%20young%20the%20only%20transportation%20was%20street%20cars.%20There%20were%20o%20buses,%20elevated%20systems,%20or%20cars.%20Henry%20Ford%20was%20still%20working%20on%20his%20Model%20T.%20As%20for%20airplanes,%20I%20believe%20the%20Wright%20Brothers%20invented%20their%20first%20model%20in%201914.%20Also%20the%20only%20form%20of%20home%20entertainment%20was%20the%20Victrola.%20I%20remember%20that%20after%20my%20parents%20saved%20enough%20to%20buy%20a%20Victrola,%20every%20couple%20of%20weeks%20my%20brothers%20purchased%20new%20recordings%20and%20played%20them%20while%20dancing%20around%20the%20living%20room.%20As%20for%20radios,%20it%20was%20many%20years%20later%20when%20the%20first%20crystal%20set%20was%20invented.%20It%20wasn%E2%80%99t%20until%20around%201946%20when%20my%20daughter%20Morgan%20was%20seven,%20and%20Phyllice%20was%20around%20two,%20that%20radios%20became%20very%20popular.%20We%20bought%20a%20very%20good%20radio%20set,%20encased%20in%20a%20lovely%20big%20mahogany%20cabinet,%20and%20after%20that%20we%20listened%20to%20many%20good%20programs.%20Don%E2%80%99t%20ask%20me%20why%20everyone%20clustered%20around%20that%20radio%20cabinet%20staring%20at%20it%20as%20thought%20there%20was%20something%20to%20see,%20but%20that%E2%80%99s%20what%20everyone%20did%20back%20then.%E2%80%99%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ERose%20Schwartz%20was%20born%20November%2018,%201909.%20She%20was%20the%20youngest%20of%20ten%20children%20born%20to%20her%20fun-loving%20Latvian%20immigrant%20family.%20She%20later%20became%20Rosetta%20after%20one%20of%20her%20sisters%20decided%20Rose%20just%20wasn%E2%80%99t%20classy%20enough%20so%20when%20she%20registered%20her%20for%20school%20she%20told%20them%20her%20name%20was%20Rosetta%20and%20that%E2%80%99s%20what%20she%20was%20known%20as%20from%20then%20on.%20Rosetta%20married%20All%20Shifrin%20in%20the%201930s%20and%20later%20Max%20Lachman.%20She%20passed%20on%20in%202006%20just%20a%20few%20months%20short%20of%20her%2097th%20birthday.%20In%201988%20her%20daughter%20Morgan%20was%20able%20to%20convince%20her%20to%20write%20her%20memoirs%20so%20the%20rest%20of%20the%20world%20could%20share%20a%20laugh%20from%20the%20life%20of%20this%20beautifully,%20happy%20woman.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ERosetta%20lived%20through%20both%20WWI%20and%20WWI%20and%20gives%20us%20a%20few%20stories%20about%20the%20hard%20times%20created%20by%20war.%20She%20tells%20of%20the%20time%20she%20sold%20Al%E2%80%99s%20extra%20shoes%20only%20to%20find%20out%20that%20shoes%20were%20being%20rationed%20just%20a%20few%20weeks%20later.%20There%20were%20the%20blackouts%20that%20were%20mandatory%20in%20hopes%20that%20if%20the%20enemy%20flew%20over%20they%20wouldn%E2%80%99t%20be%20able%20to%20see%20Chicago%20in%20the%20dark.%20She%20tells%20us%20about%20her%20move%20to%20Florida%20and%20later%20to%20California%20where%20many%20of%20her%20brothers%20and%20sisters%20also%20ended%20up%20moving%20to.%20Her%20stories%20are%20all%20warm%20hearted%20yet%20cheerful.%20Whenever%20there%20was%20a%20problem,%20she%20looked%20at%20the%20bright%20side%20not%20the%20dark%20and%20always%20found%20humor%20in%20even%20the%20worse%20circumstances.%20She%20was%20truly%20a%20woman%20that%20anyone%20would%20love%20to%20know%20and%20call%20their%20friend.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAt%20the%20end%20of%20Rosetta%E2%80%99s%20writings%20her%20children,%20grandchildren,%20nieces%20and%20nephews%20all%20expressed%20their%20own%20feelings%20about%20this%20lovely%20lady.%20They%20added%20to%20the%20warmth%20by%20giving%20their%20memories%20of%20the%20woman%20that%20was%20never%20negative,%20always%20loving%20and%20always%20forgave%20whatever%20one%20might%20have%20done%20wrong.%20This%20is%20a%20very%20uplifting%20story%20about%20a%20very%20special%20woman.%20I%20personally%20wish%20I%20could%20have%20asked%20the%20question%20%E2%80%98Can%20We%20Come%20In%20and%20Laugh,%20Too?%E2%80%99%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
