%20and%20it%20didn%E2%80%99t%20last%20very%20long!%20One%20of%20the%20texts%20did%20involve%20the%20quote%20%E2%80%98sharing%20the%20fat%E2%80%99!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECome%20into%20my%20lair%20said%20the%20fruit%20to%20the%20belly!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20day%20of%20baking%20I%20hadn%E2%80%99t%20planned%20to%20make%20this%20recipe%20at%20all,%20but%20having%20my%20lovely%20beef%20stew%20simmering%20away%20on%20the%20hob,%20the%20smells%20were%20so%20good%20and%20triggered%20thoughts%20of%20lovely%20bread%E2%80%A6.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOn%20went%20the%20kettle,%20out%20came%20the%20dried%20fruit%20mix,%20enroute%20spotted%20the%20box%20of%20chai%20teabags%20and%20voila!%20I%20pretty%20much%20made%20it%20up%20as%20a%20I%20went%20along%20and%20to%20be%20honest%20I%20don%E2%80%99t%20think%20I%20would%20change%20a%20thing.%20It%20barely%20made%20it%2024%20hours%20from%20birth%20to%20death.%20And%20that%20was%20with%20some%20restraint.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EA%20sweet%20slice%20of%20heaven:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIt%E2%80%99s%20the%20first%20time%20I%E2%80%99ve%20properly%20experimented%20with%20a%20sweet%20yeasted%20dough,%20and%20a%20lot%20of%20cross%20fingers%20went%20on%20but%20I%20couldn%E2%80%99t%20ask%20for%20more.%20Its%20slightly%20sweet,%20soft,%20light%20and%20full%20of%20plump%20fruit%20scented%20with%20cloves%20and%20hints%20of%20sweet%20spice.%20Oh%20and%20it%20looks%20rather%20pretty%20too!%20The%20mix%20smelt%20rather%20festive%20too,%20a%20gentle%20reminder%20of%20the%20approaching%20festive%20season%E2%80%A6%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ERequires%20love%20and%20a%2023cm%20springform%20tin%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E3)%20Sieve%20together%20the%20flour%20and%20caster%20sugar.%20Add%20the%20yeast%20to%20the%20milk%20along%20with%20a%20heaped%20spoonful%20of%20the%20flour%20mix,%20mix%20well%20then%20rest%20for%20five%20or%20so%20minutes%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E4)%20Stir%20the%20milky%20liquid%20gently%20into%20the%20flour,%20along%20with%20a%20couple%20of%20spoons%20of%20the%20soaking%20liquor%20to%20get%20a%20sticky%20dough,%20turn%20out%20onto%20a%20lightly%20floured%20surface%20and%20knead%20for%2010%20minutes%20%E2%80%93%20try%20not%20to%20add%20any%20further%20flour%20as%20you%20want%20a%20dampish%20dough,%20just%20enough%20so%20it%20doesn%E2%80%99t%20stick%20entirely%20to%20the%20counter%20top!%20It%20should%20all%20be%20lovely,%20smooth%20and%20elastic.%20Place%20in%20a%20floured%20bowl,%20cover%20and%20leave%20somewhere%20warm%20until%20doubled%20in%20size.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E5)%20Knock%20back%20the%20dough,%20smooth%20out%20into%20a%20long%20baguette%20shape%20and%20cut%20into%20around%2014%20or%20so%20chunks.%20I%20love%20my%20metal%20dough%20slicer!%20Use%20your%20fist%20to%20flatten%20each%20chunk%20%E2%80%93%20trust%20me%20it%E2%80%99s%20the%20best%20way%20and%20quite%20stress%20relieving%20%E2%80%93%20and%20fill%20roughly%20with%20a%20spoon%20of%20the%20drained%20fruit%20mix,%20pinch%20over%20stretching%20into%20sort%20of%20ball%20shaped%20%E2%80%93%20don%E2%80%99t%20be%20too%20precise,%20you%20want%20a%20few%20bits%20sneaking%20out%20and%20place%20in%20the%20centre%20of%20the%20tin%20and%20repeat%20until%20all%20the%20dough%20is%20used%20up%20in%20one%20layer%20%E2%80%93%20sprinkle%20over%20and%20press%20in%20any%20remaining%20fruit%20mix.%20Glaze%20with%20egg%20and%20sprinkle%20over%20the%20unrefined%20sugar.%20Allow%20to%20rest%20for%20a%20further%2010%20minutes%20or%20so%20whilst%20the%20oven%20preheats%20to%20200o/%20Gas%206.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E6)%20Place%20the%20tin%20in%20the%20middle%20of%20the%20oven,%20throw%20half%20a%20cup%20of%20water%20into%20the%20bottom,%20close%20the%20door%20quickly%20and%20bake%20for%20thirty%20minutes%20or%20until%20it%20sounds%20hollow%20when%20you%20tap%20the%20sides%20%E2%80%93%20don%E2%80%99t%20try%20to%20turn%20it%20upside%20down%20like%20you%20would%20with%20a%20loaf%20%E2%80%93%20it%20will%20be%20very%20hot%20and%20it%E2%80%99s%20not%20the%20kind%20of%20bread!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E7)%20Once%20your%20beautiful%20beast%20is%20out%20of%20the%20oven,%20allow%20to%20stand%20for%20a%20couple%20of%20minutes%20then%20undo%20the%20tin%20clip,%20carefully%20loosen%20and%20slide%20onto%20an%20airing%20rack,%20cool%20for%20a%20good%20thirty%20minutes%20before%20brandishing%20your%20bread%20knife%20and%20losing%20your%20dignity%20as%20you%20make%20strange%20noises%20in%20earshot%20of%20your%20flatmate%20mumbling%20%E2%80%98oh%20its%20so%20good%E2%80%99%20and%20realise%20instincts%20are%20the%20best%20thing%20in%20baking.%20And%20life.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ENb:%20I%20hold%20no%20responsibility%20for%20weight%20gain.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThanks%20to%20Paul%20for%20helping%20me%20with%20the%20final%20name%20for%20this!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EDon't%20forget%20I%20am%20also%20on%20facebook%20and%20its%20comments%20like%20these%20'P.s.%20Best%20bread%20ever'%20makes%20my%20heart%20go%20all%20squishy%20happy%20so%20fire%20away%20with%20your%20thoughts!%20I%20love%20hearing%20from%20you!%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
