- In a large shallow bowl whisk together lowfat milk, Large eggs and sugar. Soak bread 1 minute per side, till nearly all egg mix is absorbed. In a large cast-iron or possibly nonstick skillet heat butter over medium-low heat. When butter bubbles, carefully transfer challah slices to pan and cook 1 1/2 to 2 min per side, or possibly till golden. Sprinkle toasts with confectioners' sugar and serve with maple syrup.
