Cheese Grits With Green Chiles

Ingredientes

  • 6 c. Water
  • 1 1/2 c. Quick-cooking grits, uncooked
  • 2 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Paprika
  • 1 tsp Grnd red pepper
  • 3 lrg Large eggs
  • 4 c. Shredded sharp Cheddar cheese (about 1 lb.)
  • 1 can (4.5-ounce) minced green chiles, undrained Garnish: red bell pepper curls

Direcciones

  1. I'm including the published recipe and as well as the deviation that I made (see "Cheese Grits w/Green Chiles (ala Ashley)").
  2. Bring water to a boil in a saucepan; stir in grits and salt. Return to a boil; cover, reduce heat and simmer, stirring frequently, 10 min or possibly till thickened. Stir in paprika and grnd red pepper.
  3. Beat Large eggs in a large bowl. Gradually stir about 1/4 of the warm grits mix into the Large eggs; add in to remaining warm grits, stirring constantly.
  4. Stir in cheese and chiles; pour into a lightly greased 11 x 7 x 1.5 inch baking dish.
  5. Bake at 325 degrees F for 45 min or possibly till set. Serve immediately, or possibly spoon grits into 10 lightly greased (6 ounce) custard c. and cold. Invert cooled grits onto a greased baking sheet; remove custard c.. Bake at 300 degrees F for 5 min or possibly till thoroughly heated.
  6. Yield: 8 to 10servings.
