%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESometimes%20I%20like%20to%20sit%20and%20imagine%20what%20it%20would%20have%20been%20like%20to%20live%20in%20a%20society%20where%20the%20accumulation%20of%20limes%20would%20be%20a%20status%20thing%20amongst%20school%20girls%20.%20.%20.%20and%20I%20wonder%20.%20.%20.%20would%20I%20have%20been%20able%20to%20afford%20to%20buy%20limes?%20Or%20would%20I%20be%20permanently%20left%20on%20the%20side%20lines%20.%20.%20.%20wanting%20limes%20and%20envying%20those%20who%20had%20them.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAnd%20then%20my%20imaginations%20take%20me%20even%20further%20.%20.%20.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIf%20I%20had%20limes,%20and%20lots%20of%20them%20.%20.%20.%20would%20I%20be%20content%20to%20just%20carry%20them%20around,%20and%20boast%20about%20how%20many%20I%20had%20to%20my%20friends,%20showing%20off%20to%20all%20and%20sundry%20.%20.%20.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Eor%20would%20the%20creative%20cook%20that%20resides%20deep%20inside%20me%20be%20tempted%20to%20sacrifice%20just%20a%20few%20of%20them%20to%20the%20creation%20of%20something%20delicious%20and%20ludicrously%20tasty%20.%20.%20.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Eand%20then%20.%20.%20.%20were%20I%20rich%20enough%20to%20have%20oodles%20of%20limes%20.%20.%20.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Eperhaps%20I%20would%20be%20rich%20enough%20to%20be%20able%20to%20purchase%20another%20exotic%20ingredient%20as%20well%20.%20.%20.%20preserved%20stem%20ginger%20.%20.%20.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3Eand%20.%20.%20.%20lets%20face%20it%20.%20.%20.%20were%20I%20wealthy%20enough%20to%20buy%20the%20ginger%20.%20.%20.%20it's%20a%20dead%20shoe%20in%20that%20I%20would%20also%20be%20able%20to%20afford%20candied%20glace%20cherries%20and%20lucious%20dried%20sultanas%20.%20.%20.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhy%20then%20I%20expect%20.%20.%20.%20I'd%20be%20in%20full%20possession%20of%20all%20the%20ingredients%20needed%20to%20create%20a%20delicious%20cake!!!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMmmm%20.%20.%20.%20just%20think%20about%20it%20.%20.%20.%20a%20tasty%20and%20moist%20loaf%20cake,%20absolutely%20stogged%20full%20of%20glace%20cherries%20and%20sultanas,%20the%20zest%20of%20limes%20and%20preserved%20ginger%20.%20.%20.%20and%20slathered%20in%20a%20luciously%20sweet,%20yet%20tart%20lime%20frosting.%20Oh,%20how%20lovely%20that%20would%20be%20.%20.%20.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20dare%20say%20the%20other%20girls%20would%20want%20to%20be%20my%20friends%20even%20more%20than%20if%20I%20just%20had%20some%20old%20limes.%20It%20sounds%20good%20to%20me%20anyways%20.%20.%20.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20is%20a%20cake%20for%20cosying%20up%20with%20next%20to%20the%20fire%20.%20.%20.%20a%20woolen%20blanket%20thrown%20over%20your%20knees,%20and%20a%20warming%20mug%20of%20spiced%20apple%20tea%20on%20the%20side.%20MMMM%20.%20.%20.%20Moreishly%20scrummy%20.%20.%20.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBut%20don't%20just%20take%20my%20word%20for%20it!%20Bake%20it%20for%20yourself,%20then%20sit%20back%20and%20enjoy%20.%20.%20.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E*Cherry%20and%20Sultana%20Loaf%20with%20Fresh%20Lime%20and%20Ginger*%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMakes%202%20(1%20lb)%20loaves%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EA%20refreshingly%20light%20cake%20with%20a%20tasty%20lime%20icing.%20Chock%20full%20of%20glace%20cherries,%20sultanas,%20preserved%20stem%20ginger%20and%20lime.%20Delicious!%20Make%20one%20to%20eat%20now%20and%20one%20to%20stick%20in%20the%20freezer%20to%20enjoy%20at%20a%20later%20date.%20(Don't%20ice%20if%20you%20are%20putting%20it%20into%20the%20freezer.%20Save%20that%20for%20the%20day%20you%20want%20to%20serve%20it.)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPre-heat%20the%20oven%20to%20160*C/325*F.%20Butter%20and%20line%20two%20(1lb)%20loaf%20tins%20with%20parchment%20paper.%20Set%20aside.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPlace%20all%20the%20cake%20ingredients%20in%20a%20large%20bowl.%20Mix%20well%20together%20on%20low%20speed%20of%20a%20mixer%20to%20start%20with,%20and%20then%20medium%20speed%20until%20well%20mixted%20together%20and%20smooth.%20Divide%20evenly%20between%20the%20two%20loaf%20tins%20and%20smooth%20the%20tops.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBake%20in%20the%20pre-heated%20oven%20for%2045%20to%2050%20minutes,%20until%20well%20risen%20and%20golden%20brown.%20A%20toothpick%20inserted%20in%20the%20centre%20should%20come%20out%20clean%20and%20the%20top%20should%20spring%20back%20when%20lightly%20touched.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ERemove%20from%20the%20oven%20and%20allow%20to%20cool%20in%20the%20tins.%20Once%20completely%20cold,%20remove%20and%20ice.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ETo%20make%20the%20icing%20mix%20together%20the%20icing%20sugar,%20lime%20zest%20and%20lime%20juice%20until%20smooth.%20Spread%20over%20top%20of%20the%20cakes.%20Sprinkle%20with%20the%20chopped%20stem%20ginger.%20Cut%20in%20slices%20to%20serve.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPS%20-%20For%20those%20of%20you%20who%20asked%20yesterday,%20a%20Swede%20is%20a%20rutabaga.%20They%20call%20it%20a%20Swede%20over%20here.%20(It's%20like%20a%20large%20turnip%20which%20is%20orangy%20coloured)%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
